Nope, just not a PAC-10 fan. I still remember 2003 unlike some of the modern sellout fans.

Really? It's unrealistic to assume Miles will ever win an SEC West title, the SEC, a BCS Bowl game, or a NC again? Why are you supporting a contract extension for the guy again?

No it's unrealistic to expect ANY coach to win an SEC West Title, SEC Title, a BCS Bowl game, or a National Championship EVERY YEAR. Since you said that your expectations are higher and that you expect an SEC West Title or SEC Title or BCS Bowl Game, or a National Championship, I figured that you expected it every year. Seeing as you think that anything else is "meaningless."

No I think you just said something incredibly stupid and I wanted you to hopefully prove me wrong.

You need to reread what I said as you are currently arguing with someone or some point that doesn't exist.

quote:

Then no contract extension needed. If he handles pressure so well, then he should coach next year under the pressure of truly earning a contract extension by winning something meaningful again.

Let me phrase it in a much simpler way: Miles should only get an extension when he wins something meaningful again. If that is next year, fine. But in case you haven't noticed, we haven't even earned the right to a "meaningful" game for three years.

No YOU need to reread what you said. In case you don't remember, allow me to help you.

You said:
quote:

If he handles pressure so well, then he should coach next year under the pressure of truly earning a contract extension by winning something meaningful again.

Then, I said:
quote:

So this year wasn't meaningful? The Cotton Bowl wasn't meaningful? An 11-win season isn't meaningful?

Then you said:
quote:

b]Meaningful = winning the SEC West or the SEC or the NC, or a BCS Bowl game. I don't apologize for having higher standards.[/b]

Which tells me and anyone else with common sense that nothing is considered meaningful to you except those things. Therefore, in your mind everything else is irrelevant thereby proving my point that your expectations are unrealistic and can't be met by anyone. No coach has ever achieved that every year.

So if you don't expect them to win any of those things every year, then your expectations could never be met. You're contradicting yourself.

Les doesn't need any extension or raise. He earned his current contract this year, nothing more.

Come back next year if he wins something meaningful and you can talk about extensions and/or raises

I agree.

Probably not.

I can't get through to you people about this whole meaningful thing.

Wow, you're a little slow. Let's do an exercise of REPLACING a WORD with a POST and rearranging those same exact words. Ready?

quote:

he should coach next year under the pressure of truly earning a contract extension by winning something meaningful again.

becomes "by coaching under pressure, he should truly earn a contract extension by winning something meaningful again next year"

And then, the magic happens. We replace the "something meaningful" with the extrapolated words from another post:

"by coaching under pressure, he should truly earn a contract extension by winning the SEC West or the SEC or the NC, or a BCS Bowl game again next year"

Quit arguing with yourself.

I'm not arguing with myself nor am I a little slow. We just have differing opinions on things. I agree that Miles doesn't deserve a new contract and I never said he did. He earned what's in his contract for this year and that's it. I never stated anything that would imply that he would deserve a raise. Discussion over. Geaux Tigers!

The problem with the "meaningful" comments is the SEC champ is going on it's 5th straight NC and the SEC West is going on 3rd NC in 4 seasons.

It isn't some easy thing to just dominate the SEC like the other conferences. I would say finishing 2nd or better in our division 5 out of 6 seasons is pretty meaningful considering how tough the west and SEC conference is every year.

11 - 11 - 12 - (RP recovery zone: 8 - 9) - 11.

62 - 16

Four 11+ win seasons in six years.

The man made a gut check move kicking the star-to-be QB off the team. The team could have disintegrated into a Miamiesque swoon and he had the cajones to do the right thing and bring the heat on himself.

The present is awesome. LSU is 11 - 2 with a great Cotton Bowl win and he's beaten Saban and Meyer equally.

GIVE THAT MAN A RAISE!
