kind of reminds me of the Bill Callahan hire they had about 10 years ago?

An old pass happy .500 coach likely on the decline trying to rebuild a traditional run heavy team that is lucky to be in the top 30 of recruiting with Pelini. Also, what about the defense that has let them down several times in big games?

Don't know about that.

I like it. He's the anti-Pelini. If ever there was a hire that said "frick you" to the previous coach it's this one.

He's a solid coach though but Nebraska needed to go with a young, innovative coach

Agreed. This hire makes it seem like getting rid of Bo was prioritized over actually finding someone to spark the program.

That could be a great hire for Neb; Riley did a great job at OSU.

I'm shocked. He wouldn't take the Alabama job in 2003, his Alma mater, but leaves for Nebraska? The reasoning them was that his wife was from Oregon. He's also 61 years old now. This is a head scratcher.

As a Nebraska fan, I am shocked, maddened, disappointed, and literally numb. We just fired a guy for not winning a conference title in 7 years. This guy hasn't won one in his 14 years at OSU. What a fricking joke. I'm sure they got a bargain deal. Any faith I had in Eichorst has been lost.

Mike Riley will coach a big underdog to an upset over a top 3 team, and then lose the next three games after that.

Do a little research on OSU football prior to Riley. He's done a phenomenal job there.

I give him 2 years before he gets fired and the AD resigns. Odds are this is BC 2.0

One thing that I keep thinking about is how he has a decent record at Oregon State with the crappy infrastructure there, so lets see what he can do with what NU has. But I have a ton of doubt over hiring a no name coach with an OK record.

That's a surprise. I was looking at the TV way on the other side of the office and I thought they were announcing that Nebraska hired Greg Schiano. I have shitty eyesight and I thought they were showing footage of Schiano when he was at Rutgers. That was a move that I thought made sense.

You might think he's a no-name but I guarantee you he has been on shite ton of "short lists" in the past 10 years.

Worst hire I've ever seen in my 25 years of living.
