You read all the crap on the net about the insulting offer from Les and the Loud Carr comments etc and you see why that team loses. They are just like Alabama was before Saban arrived. They deserve what they get and will continue to lose. Why would any top notch coach want to coach at Michigan? Simply garbage and arrogant. They live off the past. How many titles they have last 20 years? Top 5 finishes? My point exactly.

I know he won a title, but I don't get why Carr has so much power there.

Maybe, but I have to say the biggest compliment I hear of Hoke is that he's a Michigan Man or he loves Michigan, or knows what Michigan is all about. I hope, for Michigan's sake, he's a hell of a lot more than that. I'd hope he was a great recruiter. I'd hope he was great at forming a staff. I'd hope he was a great coach. Being a Michigan man, in the end, is not going to win games. Alabama finally learned the hard way.

In the end, I really believe Michigan screwed up by firing RR. Instead of paying RR's buyout, why not use that money to go get a top notch DC and recruiting coordinator. That would have made more sense to me, instead of starting over yet again.

They've gotten to the point where they think they can sit back and great coaches will flock to them ... Times have changed. If you want a great coach, you better go out, make him feel wanted, and get him.

The attitude of Michigan is much like the attitude Notre Dame had before Kelly.

If you don't lay out the red carpet for these great coaches and make them feel wanted, they aren't coming. You can't just sit back and say, "hey, we're Michigan, you'd be lucky to be the coach here."

I'm not necessarily saying they did this to Miles and Harbaugh, but it certainly seems like there is an overriding feel coming out of Michigan that "we're Michigan, the greatest university in the world, and everyone dreams to coach here", and hence the "Michigan man" talk.

It doesn't matter if you are Alabama, Notre Dame, Michigan, Penn State or whoever, if you want to reel in the big guns, you better go out and get them because they're not going to line up at your door as they would have in the 70s and 80s.

Their fans here have been great. I feel for em. They know exactly what plagues their program and are powerless to do much about it.

The Hoke hire will be the last of the Carr faction if it fails. Then they will pay a hired gun and their program will return.

All traditional programs are like this. Just watch when Penn State replaces Paterno. An outsider doesn't have a chance in Hell of getting the job. The atmosphere doesn't change until the Good 'ole Boy network finally sinks the ship. This happened at Alabama and Nebraska. Hopefully Hoke works out for Michigan, but judging from afar, Carr has too much say.

If the story is true Carr can eat a bag of dicks. That's a shitty thing to do to a coach of a nationally successful program.

its funny to hear what SEC/LSU people have to say about history. The fact is that Michigan is a top 5 program of all time while LSU can't even find its self in the top 15. shame on you

in 100 years will our great grandchildren even count LSU's 2007 and 2003 national title. Yes, History matters.

So your message is...the present doesn't matter?

So why don't I see Michigan ranked above LSU?

Oh right...it does matter.

Regarding Harbaugh and Miles, Brandon offered the following:
quote:

"All that glitters is not gold when it comes to some coaches," Brandon said. "A two- or three-hour meeting with a coach uncovers much more than you could learn scanning the Internet or sifting through statistics. Sometimes the hype or the PR doesn't match the real person."
