The point of talking to Les Miles was to make it look like (to the Bo faction) that there was an actual search goin on... when all along David Brandon's guy was Brady Hoke.

So the "Carr faction" wanted you to lose face to the entire nation by being supposedly turned down, making you look worse before you go hire a coach that is only a "ehhhh" hire?

If so, the Carr faction is a bunch of idiots?

I understand Michigan is rich in history and tradition, but why does the next coach have to have a "Michigan" connection?

Tell him to go to Tigerdroppings to find the best candidates. Gary Petterson, Butch Davis, Gus Malzhan, Dan Mullins, Steve Sarkisian, Pat Fitzgerald and Kevin Sumlin.

Aged Woverine, what would you think of any of those hires? Best of luck in your coaching search.

Seems to me that Michigan wants a "Michigan Man". They tried the experiment with a hot commodity (who was outsider) when they hired RR and it didn't work. Now they want to go back to a guy with Michigan roots. Brady Hoke would not be a candidate if he wasn't a former UM assistant. You don't hear other schools clamoring for him.

I understand it, but I don't agree with it. They should get the best possible coach. Michigan recruits nationally. The new coach will hire assistants who have local knowledge. Having Michigan roots doesn't help win football games. I guess they like having a guy that they know will never leave for another job.

Speaking of that, I doubt they will ever come after Les Miles...

There is no way the LSU fan base could be as bad as the UM fan base right now. We are a f***ing mess.

Shoulda been down here in 1994 and 1999.

Or at Oklahoma during their dark days post Switzer and pre Stoops.

Michigan will get through this and you'll be back to contending for Big Ten titles again.

Keep your head up and ride the storm out.

RedGreen, can you help me understand the hatred Lloyd Carr has for Les Miles? I'm sure it has been discussed somewhere but I just haven't heard.

Two things bother me about the Hoke rumors right now. One, the lack of hours left to use the Mich plane per Brandon's contract as well as the Domino's conf. tommorow in the morning. Two, Hoke had better not be in LA recruiting right now. It's a dead period in recruiting with no contact allowed. If he is hired coach, he better not be coming with sanctions at his previous school, like our last coach. I have no clue what Dave Brandon is doing, but as a Michigan fan, I am very disappointed by his silence. Us fans, who pay his salary, deserve a whole lot more than a letter basically mocking us and a comment about Hawaii over the past week. We are not asking for inside information, but don't joking around and wasting money left and right. It makes us look like a joke.

That being said, congrats on keeping a NC winning coach to you Tiger fans! He's a stand up guy and stood by his word, and that is rare to find in winning coaches these days!

Fellow UM fans, I am hearing that Michigan possibly lowballed Les Miles with their offer. If this is true I will hate David Brandon.

But congrats LSU and good luck winning a MNC next year

do you think the Miles camp, leaked to the media that he would take the job, if offered (knowing damn well he wont take it)..just to get the fan base to turn on the carr camp?

DB is not the guy you should be hating. You guys should start a petition to have Lloyd Carr isolated from the decision making process taking place at Michigan. Again, Carr Camp is in denial, do away with the dead and go with the living.

Yeah I know Carr is behind it somehow. He never supported RR while he was at Michigan. I don't really know who to blame exactly right now, just. so. mad.

I can't understand what Carr has to do with Michigan right now. If he want's an administrative job or fund raising job, that's fine, but he doesn't need to be making any decisions. If they want to ask his opinion, that's fine, but they need to but out and Brandon needs to get some balls.

RR was not going to give what they wanted. That spread crap doesn't work on road graders like the Big Ten has. Even in the SEC without Tebow and Cam Newton it won't work. Superior line play blows that shite up.

Nothing personal, but your school is completely screwed right now. Too many factions, and way too many chefs. I feel bad for y'all.

until UM can just hire a coach and stay out of his way, you're playing second fiddle to tOSU at best. There's NO excuse to have fallen behind MSU.

Though it might be true, that story is pathetic and sad. Until that nonsense is purged from your program you will suck donkey balls.

It's like a nuclear powered good ole boy network.

You never know how a hire will turn out. Could be Hoke turns things around there. Heck, I don't remember Chizik being a big name hire and he's hoistng a crystal ball. Even Saban and Miles were underwhelming hires to some when they were hired and they both seem to have worked out pretty good.

I do agree that the whole Carr thing is bizzare though. Of all the stuff that has been said about him in the last two Michigan hires it seems like he has other agendas than getting the best coach to turn the program around.
