Michigan & the factions

Michigan has 2 factions:
1) The Bo faction
2) The Carr faction
The Bo faction wanted Harbaugh and the Carr faction would have been OK with the JH hire. Harbaugh was #1 on the list but decided to take the 49's job. No doubt JH would have united the Michigan fan base.
The Carr faction wants Brady Hoke as the new Michigan HC. The last person they want is Les Miles.
Les Miles was never going to leave LSU. He has one of the top jobs in America and his family is very happy. There are a few things Miles would like to change (no threats after an average season) but is still very happy at LSU. His thinking was talking to the Michigan AD would give him a little leverage... even though he knew he would never take the Michigan job.
In addition Miles was being kind to a program & University that he loves. Thus agreeing to talk with David Brandon.
David Brandon never planned to hire Miles. Never. After Jim Harbaugh turned him down his man has always been Brady Hoke.
Brady Hoke isn't the best coach available but will help unite the 2 factions.
The Bo faction isn't thrilled but are ok with the hire.
The Carr faction is giggling like school girls because they are about to get exactly what they want; which is Brady Hoke & more importantly control of the Michigan fooball program.

Then what was the point of even talking to Miles, flying to Baton Rouge, etc.

Lloyd Carr is proving to be the worst thing to ever happen to Michigan football.

So Brandon flew down to NOT offer Les? ok

Some people are rather ignorant on the subject.
"Talking" to Miles does nothing for us. Perception is everything, and right now our image is tarnished after this past decade.
You NEVER go to BR unless it is to sign a contract. By doing this, and then falling back to Hoke, it will slam our image futher.
If we didnt get Les, I can live with that. Not happy, but have to go on.
I cant live with the MSC's regimes treatment of the Michigan FB image. Mediocrity in the eyes of others is fine with them.
We needed a lights out hire, no matter the cost. What we dont need is an uninspired choice. If Brady had never coached for us, there is no way he sniffs the HC job.
Dave better pull a rabbit out of his arse, or else some folks need to lose their job. The Michigan HC job should be bigger than pleasing factions. Get the best person for the job...period.

This will not unite the factions...not even a little bit. RR should have been kept one more year if we are seriously about to hire Brady flippin Hoke.

Sounds like too many former coaches meddling... This whole thing has actually made me somewhat of a Michigan fan, especially since I dislike OSU and State.

Why does he still have a "faction"?
I love folks acting like LSU's fanbase is a mess.

I would say there is a third faction - the ones who care little about the other two and just want Michigan to return to its winning ways.

WTF is up with all these factions. This doesnt even make sense. One is dead, the other long retired. I don't get it.

have mich boards reported Miles is staying at LSU yet?

There is no way the LSU fan base could be as bad as the UM fan base right now. We are a f***ing mess.

I can't comprehend this either. I understand he does a lot of work for the Children's Hospital in the area, and this endears him to the university President, but Coleman needs to realize her endorsement of Lloyd Carr is killing that university's proud tradition.

Yeah, the OP's view point on never offering the job to Miles doesn't make any sense. Y'all could have hired Hoke a few weeks ago.

Tell him to go to Tigerdroppings to find the best candidates. Gary Petterson, Butch Davis, Gus Malzhan, Dan Mullins, Steve Sarkisian, Pat Fitzgerald and Kevin Sumlin.
Aged Woverine, what would you think of any of those hires? Best of luck in your coaching search.

These factions remind me of Micky Ward's family in The Fighter

She is the constant in these two searches...I'm just sayin...

LOL have you read some of the post here? They can be worse that us. Congrats on keeping your coach.

The point of talking to Les Miles was to make it look like (to the Bo faction) that there was an actual search goin on... when all along David Brandon's guy was Brady Hoke.
The Bo faction would have never bought the Brady Hoke hire UNLESS they thought DB tried to hire Miles first.
SOunds crazy? It is but that's how divided the Michigan fan base is at this time.

Completely agree.. makes no sense to "interview" Miles without really knowing whether you're gonna offer the job. Thats why I kept thinking Joe Schad was being played. There seems to be little reason for the whole bs thats been going on for a couple of days unless they were going to offer..even if it was a low ball.

Counldnt agree more..no way he gets this job(if he does)without being a "Michigan Man"

So, you're saying Brandon was just in Baton Rouge for the crawfish?
