I'm not saying he is the worest, nor the best. In my opinion he can stay as long as he wants granted he wins 10 games a season, keeps us competitive in the division, and gets rid of GC.

If he cannot accomplish this then I have no use for him other then as a back up lawn mower.

damn, I wanted to see what he could do in Nashville, plus I think he shoulda taken that job.

You're in a win-win situation at VU. You're not expected to win, so if you exceed those expectations and are competitive and make some bowl games at 6-6 then that is considered very good. Plus you can get some decent players at Vandy (see Cutler, Earl Bennett, Chris Nickson, etc)

malzahn was a high school football coach five years ago that leveraged a position on the arkansas staff with the signing of mitch mustain .. sure, he has "fathered" the wildcat and the spread .. but he had a freak of nature at QB this year ... i would love to see what he would do with a mere mortal QB before i handed this guy a head coaching job at the D1 level ..

eta: i.e. .. i think he was dumb as shite for turning this job down .. he goes from zero to hero at vandy and builds his resume .. he jumps somewhere over his head and fails miserably .. he's mike archer ..

I have some insider info. I know who Vandy will now hire. To prove it, I am posting the following here: STAB.

I'll buy that but i just dont see why he would give up a post here when he can get what ever he wants at LSU. Money Talent coverage. he isnt getting pressure from alumni or school. he doesnt have any scantions coming down (unless that stuff with mcrtney is still looming)

And even if thast is the case the new coach will fire crowton anyways so he isnt saving his job by not firing him.

He just doesnt want any lack of focus going into a big bowl game . this is very improatnt for his career adn our future.

If he passed on 3 mil for this job, he is a fool. Signed Coach Schiano.

While it was Tulsa, you can't just throw out his time there, that offense was ridiculous.

It's one thing for Miles to leave. It's another thing for him to leave in mid January. Recruiting class would fall apart, and we'd be left looking for a head coach. Look at the difficulty UF and Miami had finding a head coach (particularly Miami). We'd be relegated to a list of coachs with little to no head coaching experience. Heck, we'd be the ones hiring Malzahn then. Get rid of Crowton and I'll take my chances with Miles.

UF had no problem. They got a coach in no time, and Miami took a huge risk. LSU could lure any little coach away from a shitty school.

but most good ones will either leave before we are hiring, or will sign extensions will their current school and be off the market.

yes, malzahn got his break b/c of mitch mustain- but look where both are now. seems quite possible to me malzahn made mustain, not the other way around. and look at auburn last year without cam- 14th in the country and 2nd in the SEC. thats pretty good- im sure most this board would love to pair that with our defense. and he had the #1 and #2 offenses in his 2 years at tulsa. dude can straight coach em up

LSU got Saban from Michigan State, and Miles from Oklahoma State. Pretty sure we could pry someone away from a school like those. Hell..we could in all farness steal back Jimbo. However, the sooner the better if it did happen.
