As far as developing qbs .... Jimbo made EJ Manuel a 1st round pick.... Think about that for a second.

I'd be ok with it if that's what it takes. The only thing that holds LSU back is not having a psychotic commitment to being the best a la Bama. If this is the best coach reasonably available, then do what it takes.

Ok makes sense. I wonder how those discussions have gone. You heard anything about that?

Jimbo is the right choice. IMO there is no doubt. He would be a great hire and we would continue being a top 5 program with a serious chance at A NC every year.

I think people are being reactionary about him losing to louisville but he's definitely 1a. Herman would be a lead pipe lock for this job if he'd have a few more years experience as a head coach. He's fantastic but still pretty new to it all.

Someone will take a chance on him and be repaid very handsomely.

I wasn't defending Miles. I was laughing at the irony that it would just be one vicious circle from Saban to Miles to whomever. You KNOW someone will be spouting the "Miles recruited all those guys so the NC isn't really [insert new coach name]." And on that day i will laugh hysterically again, and repost this exact convo.

Take out the second word above and I agree 100%

The timing is perfect. Both parties want each other. It's just a "fit."

Grand slam hire? Probably not (if there even is such a thing), but it's a damn good hire on paper.

I disagree completely. Herman is a young brilliant mind in CFB. Jimbo has done great things as well. Another factor no one is mentioning is money. Jimbo has a pretty hefty buyout and Herman does not. It would be considered a lateral move on Jimbos part to leave FSU......meaning it would take alot of money to get him to leave FSU. For less of a buyout we could get Herman, who would be considered as taking a step up in the coaching world. I think Herman will be the first call.

And Christian ponder a first rounder. We just paid les miles 10 million to leave. Jimbo was the guy they wanted last year. Why would that change now. I think they offer jimbo first, if he declines they throw more money at him until he accepts. If he still says no, they go to Herman. It won't get past Herman. LSU will hire jimbo or Herman. That's all that's in the short list. I'd be pissed if they hire anyone else and you should be too!

While I'm more than happy to have Jimbo or Herman, Aleva better not let money stop him from getting his top target. You just paid roughly 10 to get rid of miles plus un-retained staff, so you better find your coach and make him unable to tell you no like Alabama/Saban and Michigan/Harbaugh. You miss on Herman and/or Jimbo the circus that was the end of last season will pale in comparison. Six million better not be an issue for Alleva.

I'll name my source - my mom.

I've mentioned before I grew up in Tallahassee and my mom is a huge FSU fan past president of the FSU Extra Point Club - the female version of The Touchdown Club.

She is friends with Candi Fisher.

Jimbo and Candi have 50/50 joint physical custody of their two sons. He kept their home and she has a home in the same neighborhood. Both boys are very involved in youth sports and such in Tallahassee. The oldest is a freshman and he plays quarterback at a local private school.

Unless Jimbo can convince his ex-wife to move to BR, it's going to be a tough get for LSU. He would no longer have 50/50 custody if he moves 450 miles away from his sons.

With the ages they boys are (11 and 14) and with Ethan's illness, you never know. Those are ages where it's tough to move kids around.

But maybe that was part of the deal with him being a coach - it could be written into the custody agreement that if he got an offer worth X amount then she would move with the kids. My mom doesn't know her well enough to be that deep in her business.

I have a hard time trusting your discernment of the LSU situation. You generally just say exaggerated things on here to get attention.

Example;" Guice was NFL ready at Catholic high, and will be a better back than Fournette"

Yeah it's fun. What fun do I get out of this, though?
