Rumor #1: Trev Alberts really likes Mickey Joseph, and his support for him getting the permanent job has increased over the last few days.

Rumor # 2: The Mickey Joseph smoke has been replaced by Matt Rhule. Supposedly, Rhule didn’t show a lot of interest when Nebraska reached out initially, but that has changed. Nebraska insiders have started hinting today that an announcement is imminent, and Rhule is the guy.

My prediction is that if an announcement is made in the next couple of days then it’s probably Joseph.

Has Mickey Joseph ever been an OC?

I like Mickey but if he’s the choice, yikes.

Joseph is 2-3 since taking the head job:

Oklahoma - LOSS 49-14

Indiana - WIN 35-21

Rutgers - WIN 14-13

Purdue - LOSS 37-43

Illinois - LOSS 9-16

Trev Alberts wouldn't make it out of Lincoln alive if he hired Joseph as the head coach.

Mickey has to be retained by next staff per his interim HC contract. But yea big yikes if they flat out hire him as HC..

If they hire Mickey then that streak of sold out crowds will end. Trev Alberts can’t be that stupid

Matt Rhule has $40 million reasons to take off next year... I don't see him going anywhere this off-season unless it's a dream job type situation

I listen to Greg McElroys morning show every day. Earlier this week he said he’s friends with someone that knows Rhule very well he’s not in any hurry to jump back and is leaning towards taking a year off.

He and his wife are from the north east and eventually that’s where they want to end up.

He said 0% chance he ends up in the SEC and it doesn’t fit him.

He did say it would not surprise him if he took a job like Nebraska

All of this talk about Deion Sanders going to Auburn or Ole Miss (if Kiffin would leave for the Auburn job)... I think it's a distraction. Nebraska has deep pockets. They're getting Sanders.

I'm trying but I cannot come up with a worse fit. It would be interesting to watch though.

What exactly has led people to believe that Sanders is a good coach?

He has 5 losses in 3 years at jackson state and 3 of those were in his 1st season when covid was still a thing. I have no idea how that will translate into big time college football but he has done about as well at his 1st stop as could be asked for.

This might be true if Matt Rhule has lost his damn mind

Mickey Joseph getting a shot? It's worth trying.

I saw a Joseph play quarterback at Marrero Shaw in about 1997 or 1998 one Friday night, hell of a good QB - was that his brother or cousin?

yep, he will probably take his time and wait on a top ten job opening up

Penn State, Texas or what if Captain Comeback leaves Michigan for the NFL?

I guess he was hurt from being turned away for a coaching job at LSU. Might be what it is.

Matt Rhule would have to be braindead to take this job
