Tyndall is in the midst of serving one of the harshest penalties the NCAA has ever handed down. His show cause runs out at the end of the '25-'26 season. He's a D-league assistant now.

Mike White (Florida) - Doesn't seem likely that he would make a jump seemingly "down" from UF to LSU, but he's a NOLA guy who had great success in this state (La. Tech). Just like it won't be easy for the guy who follows Saban at Bama, it's hard to follow a legend in Billy Donovan. He can come home to Louisiana and not have to be judged against unreal success of Donovan. Basically he is in a Les Miles position -- really good is not good enough over there.

I understand the sentiment, but I wouldn't necessarily call it a realistic scenario. He is receiving nearly universal praise from Gator fans and media, and with a strong showing in the tournament will likely get a decent bump in salary. Life is good for him right now.

Randy Bennett, St Mary’s 54 / 328-148

OP Woodman: what makes you suggest this is even remotely possible?

---------------------------------------------------------

Bruised Ego: St Mary's is always going to play second fiddle to Gonzaga in the conference and by name recognition alone even to Santa Clara. Throw in Stanford and Cal and its always going to be an uphill battle. All the same time, Mark Few at Gonzaga likely makes nearly three times what Bennett makes.

Family Timing: Bennet's two boys are 13 and 14. If he's going to make a move, doing so before high school starts would be well advised. It seems Les Miles' kids had a good experience going to school in Baton Rouge.

Chance to Ring the Bell on having a bigger notoriety Success Legacy: Turning LSU into a perennial winner at or even perhaps the Dale Brown days would be telling.

ok to all that. do not agree with Rutgers the State U of NJ nor with DePaul. They are both sitting on gold mines of really good players. if you get two really good ones you will rocket. think of this like you would looking for recruits in football, something most TD posters understand. Every year there are 5 star basketball recruits from North Jersey and from Chicagoland. there are scads of 4 stars in both regions.
How about Louisiana? Louisiana is hampered by geography. southwest of BR there is water.
southwest of Rutgers is the Philadelphia gold mine.

I don't think it's necessarily realistic, but it might be worth shaking the tree. I think Florida fans are probably realistic with their expectations of him at the moment having to replace a UF legend in Billy Donovan. It's not like White was hired as the person to replace an under-performing Donovan, or in the usual circumstances as Donovan kind of put UF in a bind by leaving well after the season ended. The timing of the search for a new coach probably hampered UF just a bit.

If he wasn't a Louisiana guy who had good success at a state school it probably wouldn't even be worth a call. However, if I were sold on him as the guy I want to be my next head coach, I would try to pitch it as the honeymoon at UF is going to end much sooner than the honeymoon at LSU. Would it be enough to get him to jump? Probably not. But it would be worth a shot.

The "Louisiana guy" play won't have an affect on White. With his father being an AD, he lived in multiple states growing up. Off top, I'd guess he only lived in Louisiana for 4 years or so in high school before going to Ole Miss.

Mike has two brothers that work in the athletic depts. at Mizzou and UCF, also. That whole family is made for this business and all of the moving/shaking that comes with it.
