He's a BYU alumni, he doesn't get along well with Utah's administration. Does he make the seemingly lateral move?

It's a step down because Utah is in the Pac-12. Plus switching sides of that rivalry will ruffle some feathers.

Holmoe said the coach of any BYU team must be active LDS. Obviously that severely reduces the pool of quality candidates. If they really want Whittingham I could seem them pressuring him from the LDS angle. I could see him going to BYU but it won't be for football or money reasons.
