A lot of people probably missed this quote, but Herbstreit was on Finebaum earlier in the season and commented on the possibility of LSU hiring Herman. It seemed like a long shot at the time, but since it appears that we may very well have another coach within the next 48 hours (and possibly much sooner), I thought this would be worth posting given that Herman appears to be a legitimate option.

quote:

The guy I think is a perfect fit, because I know him on a personal level, is Tom Herman. Right now, he’s the flavor of the month, because of the offense, and because of what he’s done at Houston last year, culminating with win over Florida State in the Peach Bowl – and then coming back this year, with Greg Ward, and everybody expecting “OK, now we know about Houston, they’re not going to surprise anybody, now we’ll see how they do” – and they smack Oklahoma to the side, and they’re looking at a playoff run possibly with Louisville at the end of the year, if they can win the American.

quote:

So he’s very busy, and I don’t know if he’s going to be interested in leaving Houston, but if I were in charge of LSU, that’s the only call I would make. I would talk to his agent, find out if he is interested, and find out what it takes to bring him into Baton Rouge – because I think not only is he the right fit, he’s young…you can build your program around him and all of his intangibles.

quote:

He would basically bring the Urban Meyer blueprint that he took to Houston, he would take that into Baton Rouge, and it would be absolutely frightening with the recruiting base and the resources that they have in Baton Rouge. They might need to upgrade some facilities, but I still think what they have there with the tradition, and what they have as a recruiting base, if Tom Herman goes to LSU, look out.

If Herman comes here we're on the cusp of a dynasty. If O is named HC we set the program back 20 fricking years.

Alleva doesn't need to make the "safe" hire or the "long term" hire like the last AD wanted to make when Saban was a threat to go to the NFL every year and was being replaced. Petrino would have been the risky hire then. Orgeron is the safe hire now.

Alleva needs Herman or Fisher.

That's a serious question that I'm curious about also.

Herbstreit refers to us needing to upgrade some facilities, what would those be?
We have a nice academic center for athletes, indoor and outdoor practice facilities, stadium just added new section and is one of the biggest in the country, just finished new weight training room. What else is there? Locker room or film room?

What's the Urban Meyer blueprint? Statements like that are nonsensical and make me think Herbstreit is pulling something out of his butt.

WTF upgrade facilities? LSU has elite program facilities, nothing needs to be added or improved. Not right now, anyways.
