Does anyone in the know have an idea if Mawae will get into coaching? I know he interviewed for the O line spot, but it seemed to be the general consensus that he needed a bit of coaching experience before getting hired on.

Are there any in state position coaching spots open?

He's going to have to ease up on the gospel tweets if he wants to represent a public university as a head coach.

I don't know the man, but my impression is he likes being a family man, doing stuff with Healing Place and popping up on local TV and radio too much to want to do the grind of coaching full time. Like he would be fine helping out at a high school or as some sort of special assistant at LSU.

After his twitter rants about the offense, I don't think he'll be coaching at LSU in any capacity. Great player, poor supporter of the program.

I believe 100% he could be a really good position coach if he decided to pursue the path.

The biggest thing against him is that he's outspoken, good or bad. To be a position coach, you really have to fall in line with no question. A reason Eric Mangini supposedly cut him from the Jets is that he felt challenged by Mawae in the locker room.

He's helping out Dunham football at a bunch of places, but he's doing just that. If he wanted to get into coaching seriously, he could, but I think he's just waiting for the right opportunity.

And exactly what are you basing this on?

Him being a great communicator and having countless years of experience. Having good connections help, and I'm sure he has a few. He's gonna have to pay his dues, but having a "name" helps long term.

Goes back to his dedication to it though, I recall he said he didn't want the rigors of a full time coaching job right now.
