I think it's a bad move by FSU.
I said it with the miles contract. I don't care if it's nick saban himself. You protect the program, not the coach.
I don't believe you give a coach a contract longer than five years. you can always extend at the end of two or three back up to five. You can make him the highest paid coach in America if you want. however, he wants to bolt because you wont pay him for 8-10 years. If he starts fading like mack brown, he can destroy the program because he cost to much to get rid of.

Very well stated. You mentioned Mack brown, but that's basically what we just went through with Miles too. Ridiculous extensions that just kept making it harder to get rid of him.

This will bite FSU in the arse. 8 year contract extension. Remember he lost by 40 plus points to Louisville in a game that wasn't that close. I predict FSU will be mediocre and both Jimbo and the school will get bored with each other.

One of the more retarded things I've read on this board. So a coach doesn't get credit for recruiting, signing, and developing a good player? BTW, those FSU teams had talent across the board; it wasn't just Winston. Also, Jimbo's record at FSU is 77-17, total shite obviously

Won't ever happen. Guys want at least 4-5 years on contract for recruiting purposes. That's why keeping only 3 years on a college coaches contract is not always a good thing.

Before the fsu folks say I'm taking a shot, we witnessed this very thing with miles. Good seasons but not great. Underachieving and inexplicable loyalty to bad assistant coaches. Not sure why you'd lock yourself in for another 7 years but good luck.
