Yeah this has all been in the works for over 12 months IMO.
All the talk of LSU left "scrambling" is just nervous nellies. We've got our guy and had him for a while ... O was potentially turning into a PR problem with a portion of the fanbase, but that problem was fortunately eradicated Saturday. The entire fan base is now back on the same page like we were after Wisconsin ... LSU obviously needs a HC that is competent on the offensive side of the ball.
Jimbo deal was done LAST YEAR until it got nixed in the final hour. The fact that Jimbo's name still even comes up after that shitshow last year goes to show you that LSU and Jimbo have kept an open line of communication and there's been a plan for Jimbo to follow Miles all along, and I think the Miles mid-season firing was a clear signal that Jimbo to LSU was happening and LSU wasn't going to risk another Nov2015 and also didn't want to put Jimbo in the position of "pushing out Miles"... now he's merely "pushing out Orgeron" who was never a legit candidate anyway.
I'd guess Jimbo gets a $6mil per year deal, and it will be announced Sunday or Monday after A&M.
