Brutal for Arizona. Their team is about to get blown up.
Yep, many of their best players will likely follow Fisch to WA

Jedd Fisch accepts Washington job, sources told @ActionNetworkHQ. Arizona has team meetings w/in next hour. Arizona had opportunity to get Fisch new deal but it wasn’t a priority for school, source said.

Not surprising. They don't care about football

Per scheer, things may get ugly at the team meeting today

Have had multiple players and parents reach out to me. That meeting is not going to go well for Jedd. Pure anger and sadness.

This was a valid criticism when players weren’t allowed to leave so easily. Coaches should only care about themselves at this point because it is all the players care about.
I have no sympathy for the players or their parents. Boohoo.

I'm speculating here, but unless the AD at UF is fired, I don't think Napier gets fired. I think he plans to stay with Napier long term. May take UF off the board for Fisch and prompt him to take another job if open.
Napier's buyout link to sportskeeda:
If Florida decided that they wanted to part ways with Napier...they would owe him 85 percent of his remaining annual compensation. The buyout could have a significant tag as half of the total would be paid within 30 days of being fired while the remaining money would be paid in equal installments throughout the course of four years on every July 15.
As of October 2023
He is owed $37M in salary, so he would get 85% of that, which is $31.45M.
After this next season he would be owed 37 - 7.4 (annual salary) = 29.6 * .85 = $25.16M
After 2025 the buyout would be 18.87M
I think UF is still on the hook for Mullen's annual buyout payment of $1M until 2026. He got 50% immediately, then installments each year for six years. Stricklin gave him $12M, unmitigated.
Stricklin screwed up the Mullen situation badly and cost UF tens of millions. I think he intends to ride it out with Billy, long term. He's the worst AD at UF since, well, since forever.
If Fisch takes the UW job, and if Billy falls flat in 2024, then UF boosters and fans will either pledge their love and loyalty to UF, while not pledging their dollars, and not forcing a move - or they will back up the Brinks truck to Lane's house and make him an offer and buyout Billy.
I think a lot of UF fans have lost confidence in the administration and are ready to just sit on the couch and take it easy.
Ben Sasse, now UF president, has his work cut out for him.
Seeing on the ticker that Fisch took the UW job. So...it's Stricklin and Billy, long term, I guess. Otherwise it's Lane Train, headed to Gainesville.

No, I’m not looking at 1 year. I’m looking at what he has coming back at Arizona and parlaying that into a better job than Washington Washington is around a top 20 job. With a playoff appearance, Fisch could get a top 10 job. Penn State? Florida?
is UF an upgrade over UW currently?

Buy outs are part of the territory for any “dream hire” and UW/Oregon both have a lot of recent history of losing their coaches to the SEC/Big10/ACC.
Washington has only lost three coaches to other schools since Texas A&M last won a natty (1939):
Darrell Royal to Texas
Sark to USC (lol)
DeBoer to Alabama
