to believe that Crowton will not be back next season? I mean names are being thrown out all over the place but is there any real reason to think that something is going to happen after the bowl? Just asking.

If Crowton gets a job in the NFL which he is angling for, the answer is yes. I'm not sure that Gonzo would be the OC, however.

His offense was 107th in the country, and the quarterbacks that he's coaching have digressed the last two season.

If you're looking for a reason, how about those?

Assuming the credibility of Belowpar and other posters is valid, the only thing that can probably be confirmed is that LSU has been in contact with several coaches. But even if this were 100% confirmed, it does not mean that they were interviewed to replace Crowton.

For instance, Belowpar says LSU has been in contact with Kragthorpe. Everyone's first thought (mine included) is that it would be to replace Crowton. But it could be that he would be QB coach/Assistant Head coach if we were to come, and that Crowton is staying.

Bottom line, while LSU has likely been talking to a lot of coaches about available positions, part of that was simply because there were two openings (to replace McCarthy & Porter). I don't think anybody who posts on Tiger Droppings really can confirm the exact nature of who has been contacted and what position they are specifically being offered.

or maybe Kragthorpe was offered a co-coordinator position with Crowton, which would please many people here to no end.

Belowpar.

And hope. Hope that Miles is doing his discreet firing thing he likes to do.

There is no reason or evidence that he will be retained or fired. Most people on here are hoping he gets fired and Belowpar has stated that Miles talked to Kragthorpe at one point. However he also said Miles may have changed his mind about making any move.

If I were a betting man, I'd guess that Crowton gets one more year.

My point is that Belowpar has only said that coaches like Kragthorpe have been contacted / maybe interviewed. That is probably concrete and accurate. Everything else he has said, he has said with a disclaimer that he isn't 100% sure, but is likely based on what his sources say. So nobody, even BP in all likelihood, has stated anything here which is gospel. We don't know what title or duties are being offered to any prospective hire.

Hmm, will IF Kragthorpe comes in, someone has to leave. Would that be Stud? or Crowton?

good point... though I do think that they spoke to Kragthorpe before Gonzales was hired, so at the time it may have been the plan. And that may be why Gonzales is here now instead of him-- obviously, this would be total speculation-- I literally just made the idea of QB/Asst Head coach up. We really won't be sure of anything until probably sometime between the bowl game and spring practice.

I'm starting to think Crowton is probably staying...

I don't think that Miles has talked to anyone really beyond Kragthorpe and it was a feeling out type phone call.

I think it would take a candidate that Miles really likes to make the switch.

Not necessarily. My memory isn't that great anymore, but I think under Miles there has been a trend to hire assistants after the recruiting wars end in February, arguably because being down an asst coach allows Miles to make more phone/in-house contact with recruits personally per NCAA rules.

You would know better than most on here. If you're not hearing about contact to other coaches, either: a) they've really clamped down on info leaking out/limited who knows what, b) they are going to wait till after the bowl season to search(not likely as you would want to use as much time as possible to evaluate prospective hires), or c) Gonzales filled in the last puzzle piece.

One thing is definite, and that is a lot of NFL teams will be looking for new head coaches.

Does that mean Crowton is interested in an NFL head coaching job? No. It just means that with new head coaches come new coordinator jobs.

Job opportunity will be in full swing in the NFL after the season is over in a couple of weeks. That's when we will begin to see where the chips will fall.

Does crowton cost us more if he coaches for us or if we release him? I would not object to keeping him in a diminished role if its a money issue. I don't think he's worthless.

Also that Crowton sucked very much this year.

Statistically, Crowton stunk it up more than Malveto or Tepper.

That is bad.

And because most coaches with similar stats would be fired.
