THIS. Regardless of which side of the fence you fell on about O once he was hired, not a single one of us would've wanted him retained before his first game. So yea, what the frick was Alleva doing this whole time? It just shows the epic failure of the athletic department under him. Even if you wanted O to be the coach, you should be very very disappointed that the Athletic Director at a program like LSU couldn't get his first or second choice to be on the sidelines next season. It doesn't speak well for his abilities as an AD or how future coaching searches would go.

Easy answer: since there were (likely) pro-O members of the search committee alone, not to mention elsewhere, Alleva exhausted what little political push/capital he had in chasing his top two choices.

Once those two passed, he couldn't hold off any longer and killed the search for the sure thing candidate.

Read the qualifications he put out two weeks ago compared to the first press conference. They change. It's subtle but materially different.

I'd have rathered BDP be tapped as interim to simply hold things together and then get out of the way when we hired the ACTUAL new head coach.

Worst idea ever!
The way this search went, BDP would be our next coach.
