Wow. We became resigned already. Bebe hasn't coached a game yet.

Look at it a different way - if Peveto, who has a better winning percentage as a permanent head coach than Orgeron, were promoted to the interim position, would anyone honestly want him to be promoted at the end of the season, even if we had success?

Why should we view Orgeron any differently?

If the top 2-3 candidates turn us down, i wouldnt be opposed to making O interim coach for another season to get a top guy next year, like Ohio state did with Mark Texiera.

Bebe is not a serious candidate unless he goes 7-1 or 6-2 with a win vs. Bama.

6-2 and another Bama loss is not good enough.

Jimbo........Herman.............the field.

Orgeron admitted that when he was at Ole Miss he tried to control too much and didn't let his coaches work, something that Les really struggled with towards the end. I'm all for the rest of this season being an audition for him, but I find it hard to believe he's their #1 guy.

Take coach O over Kissie poo Tom any day!

Put the crack pipe down dude. Have you even watched Houston play? O hasn't even coached one game and your ready to give him the keys to the city. Lets see what his record is after the season is over. This team could easily lose another 3-4 games. They could run the table but the odds of them losing 3 games is more likely.

Coach O would have to go 6-2 or maybe even better, with a quality win or 2 (Bama, Ole miss) and bring in a great OC to make this acceptable to the fan base. Im talking Briles, Kiffin, Sarkesian level. And let them totally run the show on offense. Im sure that's what O has in mind and is trying to convince the bigwigs to do.

It's about $$ right now. We have $9+ mil wrapped up in a guy who was leading us to 9-3 and 8-4 but was making it painful and not very fun to watch football. CEO will bring fireworks and enthusiasm and if he can replicate LM yearly stats (should not be hard offensively) for less money, I think this current admin keeps him on.

As I stated before, if Les gets another job, that obviously frees up money and I don't think 8-4 will cut it for CEO to retain his job. There will be other coaches in the future if we can't land the right guy for the right price.

That's why money shouldn't matter. If you're willing to pay that much to get rid of a guy who was winning as much as miles was, you have to be willing to pay to get someone who is better. We shouldnt be bargain shopping.

Getting the right guy here will more than make up for the extra couple million it will take to get him.

LSU finally has the opportunity to get an elite HC again and it would be so Louisiana for them to give it to Orgeron instead. If you think Orgeron can compete with the coaches in the SEC week in and week out because he has energy, the players love him and he loves Louisiana, then you are dooming this program. I hope as many fans in real life dont want him to be the HC as there are on this board.

No its not. You think that Joe doesn't have the commitment from TAF and money guys to go get whoever the want? The money is there to go get whoever he targets. The athletic program made $17 million last year. The SEC network money hasn't even paid the schools for its portion of advertising money yet. Money is not a problem.

if O wins the NC this year, he will get the job.

If we hire O LSU will be fricked.

Its not about money! It blows my mind when fans talk about saving money! Its not your money and they are already going to continue to raise your prices regardless of who is the coach! If the money needed for coaches salaries goes up, so will private donations and budget allocations to that dept. LSU athletics just saved almost 100 million by moving the athletic meal center to the vacant part of Tiger Stadium.

You're wrong. Joe isn't firing our most successful coach to hire Ed Oregeron. I don't care if O buys the whole damn firework stand

It's the Johnny Jones situation all over again - our basketball program had a golden opportunity to go out and spend the money on a top coach to become relevant again.

So what did we do? We hired a Louisiana guy that had a 57% winning percentage at North Texas. We hired him purely due to the fact that he was from Louisiana.

And what is Jones' winning percentage at LSU after 4 seasons?

56%.

This post and its responses show just how clueless our fans really are.
LSU and Aleva aren't turning over the keys to a top 5-10 program to Coach O. Just not gonna happen. You don't fire a highly successful coach to go cheap on the hire. LSU will get an elite coach whether its Herman, Jimbo, or someone out of left field. Point being, Orgeron isn't that guy.
