Jimbo next
Herman after that.

I remember when les was hired.
Nobody mentioned his name.

When Saban came along Dennis Erickson was flavor of he month.

Wouldn't surprise me at all for them to pick a guy that hasn't been mentioned.

I think he's our HC for a couple years because of how much money we have invested in Les. If les actually doesn't go on to coach else where, then LSU can save some by paying CEO less and if we go 8-4 or 9-3 with a decent bowl game for a couple of years, nobody really bitching as long as we field competent teams. This is fluid and based on what Miles does, IMO.

Orgeron is going to have to do something super spectacular to get this job. When you go through the PR shite storm they went through last season, and to some degree this season, and you're going to replace the winningest coach in school history, you don't give yaw yaw the job unless he absolutely kills it.

So Orgeron is Plan A, and everyone else is a back up plan if it doesn't work out?

This is pathetic...although I can't say I'm surprised.

We didn't pay 12 million to promote from within as a #1 option

I can see the appeal of Orgeron, Louisiana guy, loves the school, and would retire here if he could. Pat Fitzgerald situation.

But I still think Jimbo should be plan a. I like Herman, but like some have said already, he's probably gone if an NFL job comes up.

Apparently we're about to.

That's typical LSU, though - this is a golden opportunity for the program, and we're just going to throw it all away.

Wow. We became resigned already. Bebe hasn't coached a game yet.

If Coach O runs the table and finishes first or second in the division and the offense shows significant improvement he will have a great opportunity to be the next head coach...

This is his dream job, he's from Louisiana and he would take half of what Les made and what Jimbo and other high profile coaches would command just to land the job and Alleva would look long and hard to take advantage since they will be paying Les $125k per month for the next 6 years...

Do the higher ups still feel like Jimbo may not be in play like he was last year? Would it be Jimbo or Herman as their first choice?

If he is LSU's first choice, then that is just stupid.

You don't fire a coach with the intent to hire Ed O. I love him and his personality is contagious, but come on...

If LSU hasn't been on the phone already to Herman's representation or friends, etc, then they are fricking retarded. LSU doesn't need to be waiting around to see how O does before they start courting the top tier candidates.

I can understand if the top tier candidates tell you to take a hike, and you want to give it to O.

But Herman and Fisher still need to be the top targets and LSU needs to beat these other schools to the punch because there will be more firings. AU job is going to come open any day now for starters.

Dear Lord no. Did y'all forget his 10-25 record at Ole Miss?

"But 6-2!!"

Hell no.

This makes me very very sad.

If we fired Les and pay him $10M to go, just so we can turn around and hire our dline coach that no one else wants as a HC, people should protest in the street.

Coach O would have to go 6-2 or maybe even better, with a quality win or 2 (Bama, Ole miss) and bring in a great OC to make this acceptable to the fan base. Im talking Briles, Kiffin, Sarkesian level. And let them totally run the show on offense. Im sure that's what O has in mind and is trying to convince the bigwigs to do.
