If you had to choose between Miles and Kiffin....

...getting the UH job, who would you choose? Miles poses a recruiting threat, whereas Kiffin could get the LSU OC job.

Both. The melt would be unreal.

I'm fine with either. If we don't get Kiffin, they may make a run at Major, which would be kinda meh, but at least he's had a couple of years learning Herman's offense.

They should go full circle and hire Art Briles

Les doesn't pose a recruiting threat

Who in their right mind would melt over Les to UH? Him at UH is not a threat to LSU.

They said they were inclined to hire an older guy who would stick around until his days were over and not use that job as a stepping stone. Considering both Miles' and Briles' recruiting ability in the Houston area I would make sure that one of them was my HC, but that's just me. Kiffin, although I do want him coming here, is the last person I'd want to hire if I wanted a coach who'd stick around anf not use my school as a stepping stone!

Please let it be KIffin. That way neither will be at LSU.

Miles gets the job, hires Kiffin as his OC.
and Miles makes him run toss dive every play.

OK, I'll play along here...
As an LSU fan, I certainly do NOT think Miles getting the job would pose any threat to LSU on the recruiting front. If we are going for a highly regarded recruit in the Houston area, then likely this said recruit is also being recruited by the big boys. In other words, a blue chip recruit isn't going to stiff LSU, or the other major football programs, to stay and play football at Houston.
Miles' success as a recruiter will be tying down the B caliber athlete within their locale. The recruit that isn't good enough or regarded high enough by SEC or Big XII schools, but would help Houston compete well against their competition, would be the ones that Miles focuses on. I don't think I'm being too presumptive here either.
Now, playing the game, and assuming I'm an official at UH making a decision: I'd hire Miles, and make him either retain Applewhite or hire another hot-to-trot, up and comer, OC. THEN, I'd have a clause in Miles' contract that is sort of an "offense restraining order."
Miles would not be permitted to walk within 50 yards of the offense, nor any player on offense, during practices. He would also not be able to have any communication to any of the offense coaches during practices.
On gameday, he would not be allowed to call plays, nor carry an offense playsheet, nor have any contact with players or coaches from the offense. His headset would be muted during offensive possessions, and he would strictly be forbid from the use of the team's timeouts throughout the entire course of the game.
Sorry, I had to oblige some sarcasm here.

Miles would be a good hire for Houston.

Unlikely; and there are better alternatives.
