My only concern is what will Briles say in the living rooms of mothers? Might be hard to win moms trusts with any type of rape allegations

The moms would be more interested in........... Can you get my son into the NFL, and what proof do you have you can?? That's where the RC comes into play.
You don't send him into a situation that sets him up for failure. If you follow recruiting much you find that the position coach, and one other salesman/coach are the recruiter. Not neccissarily the OC/DC at all.

Well, our head coach would be arguably the worst in the country, so they weights it down a little

Paradoxically, if this "worst" (conceding for purposes of the argument - but I assert there are far worse HCs in FBS, some in P5 conferences than Ed O in 2016-2017 - I'm not talking about 10 years ago - I'm talking about now) HC facilitates the hiring of the best assistants and it results in wins, doesn't that negate the "worst" tag? Particularly if this "worst" HC can recruit his arse off, sell the program and take the heat off his assistants so they can do their work unfettered?

I'm just asking questions here.

Hell..... LSU players have been getting away with crimes for years due to the fact they are players, but that's ok. If anyone for one second thinks shite doesn't get covered up at every major university, then you need to pull your head out of your arse!!!!

I agree that shite gets covered up all the time. The problem is that getting in a fight or getting caught with some weed is thought of by most as "boys will be boys" or "they're college kids, they will grow out of it". When you bring up the subject of rape, thats a TOTALLY different animal there and that is something that definitely can not be thrown under the rug.

As far as how do you explain that to mothers when trying to recruit their son? Believe it or not, the majority of parents do care about more than how will you get my son to the NFL. They are smart enough to know that only a small percentage of college players make it to the NFL. The only way to explain it would be looking in that mothers eyes and explaining that while you will always hold their son accountable for their actions, you will also make sure that their son is given due process and you wouldnt immediately jump to conclusions about what they could be accused of. You will always be by their side no matter what the situation is bc not only is your job to help them craft the game of football while receiving a great education, you are also molding them to be better men later in life. Just be honest with them.

Hot chicks require you go hit in them.

Joe probably married a fat ugly chick Because she WANTED to be with him.

Oh and by the way, mom, you may hear that our offensive coordinator was fired from his previous head coaching job for supposedly covering up rape allegations of 5 of his players that may or may not have gang-raped 19 young women but we really don't believe he did even though 2 of them were convicted. While we're being honest.

We'd have the best OC in the country, and a guy that arguably is one of the best DC's.

As good as Aranda is, he's nowhere near as successful as Art Briles when it comes to his side of the ball.

Like noted, Orgeron brings little to the table, so you have to wonder how everyone would interact together. However, there's always the possibility that he could learn from his coordinators... which could be good, or could lead to O thinking he's worth more than he is.

Are we really thinking that the plan is:
O brings the talent in
the coordinators run the team

And this won't lead to insubordination on the part of the coordinators at some point down the road?

ry explaining that one to your daughter one day.

I will explain to my daughter that if a man ever forces himself on to her the first person she comes to is me bc i will want to tell my daughter I love her before I go and commit murder. I would also tell her if she does not want to see her pops in prison she should go to the police if this were to ever occur. From what I read Briles didn't do anything wrong, none of us will ever know anything but what the media tells us. If Orgeron interviews him and believe him then I will welcome him as a Tiger.

Briles acted honorably and was pushed out as token appeasement for the masses.

No he didn't. He never has. He took Sam Ukwuachu from Boise State. Art lied and said he had no idea about Sam's past.

But Chris Petersen says:

quote:

"After Sam Ukwuachu was dismissed from the Boise State football program and expressed an interest in transferring to Baylor, I initiated a call with coach Art Briles. In that conversation, I thoroughly apprised Coach Briles of the circumstances surrounding Sam's disciplinary record and dismissal."

Absolutely and it's not even close. This is coming from me one of the biggest anti O guys on this board. I would be fully behind O at that point.

The foundation that was set by Ponamsky and Alleva would allow to hiring of Briles. Hire HC for less than market rate so you can bring in top cordinators theory would work perfectly with Briles, and Aranda.

Couldnt agree more.. i cant stand the O hire but if he were to bring in Briles id be 100% on board

would have to be mighty diciplined for that not to happen, cause you know people will start clamouring for others to be head coach instead of him for sure.
