Seriously who would want to follow King Saban? It's all downhill from here... I don't care what Bama fans say..No one is going to measure up... they will live comparing their coach to Nick Saban.. Fairly or unfairly, not many men (coaches) can handle that kind of pressure day one .. Kirby may be a great coach, but dang this will be baptism by fire..

Soooo exactly how lsu fans think of miles

Definitely not Kirby Smart if they have a clue. The last two times Bama hired a first-time head coach, it was a disaster (Dubose and Shula). It should be a proven head coach like a Briles or Patterson or Mendenhall or Gary Anderson. Also, the timing of it would be awful since the best coach on the market took the Washington job last week.

I think Patterson is the guy you want to bring in but it's going to be an uphill fight keeping the recruiting class together. This is why some coaches might pass on Alabama. Smart might be the best option to keep the class together and move post Saban. If he fails I think that's when you come in with the bigger name. IDK it's still a great job but picking up the pieces and keeping them together is going to be a chore.

I really think the job has been promised to smart as head coach and waiting. Now that doesn't mean Bama can't reneg.

How long does it take to interview and vet the candidates?

1-2 Weeks at a minimum. In the mean time your class gets broken up. I think Smart is the only move for Bama.

Smart or Fisher. I'd be happy with either. Smart would for sure take the job... I think Fisher may be a little harder to convince but we obviously can show him some money.

Fisher just got an extension, and he's got the Noles rolling. Don't see that happening. Unfortunately we'd prob end up with Smart...
