I am seeing posts about making him the highest paid coach in college football,

He won't get paid Saban money "$7mil" but definitely $5mil and I would assume if it is a battle between UT & LSU it is going to be more like $6mil and I don't think LSU wins this race if it is a shootout regarding salary.

That was maybe the best LSU team ever...that's not a knock. They actually hung with lsu better than anybody save Bama.

Look Kelly could come back to college in another conference and likely dominate again buto not in the SEC. it's a different type of football than what he coaches

So he can go to the playoffs in the nfl, but can't coach in the SEC.

you know how dumb that sounds?

Don't underestimate Texas. They know they need a winner after missing on Saban and Strong not working out.

I'll want Herman even if he were to lose out I don't care. If O were to run the table I still check with Herman and it's his job if he wants it. If he didn't then it would be O's.

Herman could lose every remaining game and I would still want him as top pick.

He won't do that. He may drop a game but you have to look at the big picture of what talent he has there (less than vandy) and how he builds a program. Plus he is an offensive guru that personally works with developing qbs.

He is numero uno.

The real question is if Orgeron loses tonight will the O-team still want him?

You are kind of making my argument. Kelly couldn't beat a Les Miles led team, he wouldn't hang with a Saban coached Bama. So again second fiddle to Bama.

You are ignorant. That 2011 LSU team was one of the best college football teams PERIOD this century. Outside of Bama it pretty much bludgeoned everybody else.

Oregon's offense under Chip is the exact type of offense Saban struggles against. Now that he has become seasoned in the NFL and knows he needs a defense, he will be even better when he eventually comes back to CFB.

Still however, I want Herman #1. He checks off all the boxes for me.

Yes I would. Because I know Houston is not a very talented team. Herman is a good coach though.

Yep. That Houston team isn't a team loaded with talent. They maybe have about 3 guys that would start for LSU right now (actually, Ward and Oliver would probably be the only two).

I mean their top rusher is the QB, because he has to, and their 4th leading pass catcher is a true freshman QB.

Herman has been without his once leading rusher for the past 3 games, and 4 of the seven games. Even though he only played 3 of Houston's 7 games, he is still the 2nd leading rusher on the team, and he is the only guy over 200 lbs.

Absolutely ... Houston knows their coach is gone and they dont have a shot at a championship now.

Tom Herman is a great young coach.

These are lesser talented teams in Tulsa and SMU. Them playing close concerns me. H e may be one of those coaches that with enough time can beat everyone, but week to week he may not be that good.

I see CentralMichigan lost.

Tulsa and Navy are actually pretty good. I wouldn't necessarily say UH was more talented than any of these teams. Then factor in that they have a target on their back everywhere they go in conference now bc of recent success and publicity.

No one should be surprised that teams are playing hard against them.

Still want him as HC.
