How much time does LSU realistically have for this coaching hire?

Lots of confusing comments on radio and T.D. regarding how much time Miles has. I'd say a couple weeks, but it might be worth the wait.

Les has hired/promoted coordinators as late as mid February.

I doubt it gets past the middle of next week. They want someone in place before the 23rd

Just my opinion

Hannigriff stated today on 104.5 that the 23rd was an artificial time table, that Les had time. But he also stated several days ago that Les needed to move quickly on this hire, that he was wasting time. I feel certain that one of these is right.

LSU recruits are high quality young men, they might be able to handle this without losing faith in LSU, but most LSU fans here would totally lose it.

No, the visits set up are more important, and depending on who the new DC is, kids may make a late reach to talk with LSU.

Depends on what you think its more important, getting a chance at obtaining the commitments of a few good defense recruits, or getting the best defensive coordinator that we can get? I'd say it is more important to hire the right guy than to rush it just to have a chance at getting a few recruits.

The deadline for success has passed. The new DC should have had time to get moved and find out who is on the LSU recruiting board, as well as the athletes he needs to fit into his system

We hired Cam late, and have lost 3+ games every year since, so we cant say a late hire had no effect.

On 1/15 the dead period ends, and coaches will use the rumor mill to kill LSU:

"Have you heard LSU is moving to a 3-4. where do you think that leaves you on their depth chart?"

"Have you heard Brick is leaving for that open spot at A&M, do you think his replacement will use you?"

"LSU has no one coaching linebackers at this point. No one. If my NFL future was in play, I wouldn't want to step into that situation."

"That Hoke guy LSU is bringing in, has only coached DBs, so you have to believe that Raymond is on his way out. You need to come play for coaches that are still going to be there for you."

Coaches are about put in on Miles. That you can put money on. And there will be no LSU coordinator making contact in order to say that its all just a pack of lies.

Its critical this year that LSU signs some quality defensive lineman, its also critical that LSU signs the best D.C. With Chavis' quick exit, would be impressive if Les can achieve both.

Les will be th one making those calls and telling the recruits what's going on:

"Hey 5 star recruit, just wait until you see the NFL coach I'm bringing in to coach you up so you can achieve your dream of playing in the NFL"
