Not to be picky, but that isn’t correct: 83 - 8-4 84 - 5-6 85 - 9-2–1 86 - 10-3 Then it was Bill Curry for 3yrs

My bad, I put Curry’s numbers in the OP. Fixed it, thanks.

Fair point, but he went 8-4 and 7-5 in 2 years. Was the Penn State fanbase happy with BO as Paterno's replacement?

That was two of the greatest coaching seasons in football history. What he did there was a miracle.

Goodness I forgot how bad Curry was prior to going to Bama
… 31-43-4 in 7yrs at Georgia Tech with 3yrs winning 3 or fewer games. There would have been riots had someone gotten hired with that resume today.

Have you already forgotten why it is called Pedo State?

The Chin did a helluva job in his two years there.

Yeah I suppose JoePa was a shiity one to include. That fan base wanted him to hang it up for years before he finally hit the bricks. Now I’m wondering if Sandusky was on the Epstein Island list

Eh, not sure I would include urb at Florida, guy won with zooks recruits, then when the cupboard was bare he rolled out.

These are good ones.

I searched winningest cfb coaches which brought up 200+ win guys and threw Miles in because he actually replaced Saban.

If you want to look further, Chip Kelly made it to a natty and had killer seasons at Oregon. Replaced by Helfrich who went:
11-2
13-2
9-4
4-8

Won with Kelly’s recruits then downhill.

Carroll went back to back plus several 1 loss seasons and left the program to Kiffin, who went:

8-5
10-2
7-6
10-4

Gators 2008 title was won wth Urban’s players. If you don’t believe me, go look at their 2006 and 2007 classes

That team was almost in consideration for the death penalty...BOB going 7 or 8 wins with all the sanctions was actually a miracle.

into. If any program(s) could plug someone in who could simply keep the train rolling it would be Bama and UGA. But the X factor here is that DeBoer takes over in the NIL and portal era, so the playing field is changing.

What head coach wants to be “plugged in” to just fill a hole? He’s going to come in and try to make it his program. That’s where the failure (if it happens) will come.

2016 8-4

“Below average” is ignorant fan fiction.

Honestly the bigger deal is how the roster was left.

If a legend hangs on too long and drives down talent it’s gonna be hard to win. If the roster is stacked you get more of a les miles type.

I’d say it’s likely Debeor can win one title while in ttown. He probably needs to get it in year 2 or 3.

Of course a 12 team playoff could expand everyone’s window to win though I doubt we see a higher seed win at any notable clip.

Yeah the 12 team playoff, NIL, the portal and the shape of the roster DeBoer inherits will all have an impact on how he can perform.

If I’m a Bama fan I’m looking for him to go deep in the playoffs by year 3 and obviously make the playoffs in year 1.

Not winning a title by year 3 or 4 will be a total letdown for them, especially if Kelly, Sark, or Lane win one during that time frame or Kirby wins another one.

Going backwards in the SEC won’t be tolerated.

In the 12 team playoff era I would be shocked if the sec doesn’t get 4 teams in every year. Same with the big 10

It would be like
Sec:4
Big ten:4
Big 12: 1
Acc: 1
A G5
And then likely ND, Acc 2 or sec 5 depending on year.

Some Combo of Bama, UGA, LSU, Auburn, Tennessee,UF, TU and OU are in it every year. Most years those teams take the 4 spots and the ole miss, Mizzou and Aggy just hope for a spot once every 4 years when 5 of those are down

Agree with this 100%

DeBoer had better have Bama in the 12 team playoff as one of the 4 SEC schools every year. How often has Bama finished outside of the top 12 over the last decade. Without looking I’d say never.
