Guys, I hear over and over that one of the reasons that people like O so much is that he will stay out of the way of his OC and DC. Please understand that this is a bad thing. It may be the worst thing. If your head coach is not actually qualified to at least be a coordinator on either side of the ball, then how can he be in charge of either coordinator?

He needs to be a very good football coach - AND be a motivator, AND allow his assistants to do their job under his guidance. If all he does is motivate and "connect with fans and students" then about half this board is qualified to be head coach.

Look. I am not even convinced that should we win out that Orgeron is the best man for the job. Go back and find me MORE THAN 1 interim coach without HC experience that went on to long term success. The 1 is Dabo Swinney. Are there any others?

LSU fans are going the Seinfeld route when it comes to coaching....

"everyone wants a coach that will do something, we want a coach that will do nothing."

I'm gonna go ahead and put my name out there for the HC. I'm from Cajun Country and have pretty thick accent, I make a damn good jambalaya, I love gumbo and crawfish and any other food associated with being cajun. I love LSU and Louisiana. I promise to hire the most qualified OC and DC there is along with the most elite recruiters and let them all do their jobs. I'll just watch the clock and call time outs on game day. I'll do this taking a 99% pay cut from the previous coach and use the extra to pay my assistants. I'll invite all of the ex players to the games and allow them to stand on the sideline with us. And I'll kiss the arse of all the big donors.

I think I'm pretty qualified by the majority of the rants standards!

No point in arguing, they won't change their minds until we drop a game. The amount of "ifs" going around about Coach O is more than Obama trying to talk about Trump

Seriously. Is this what we think are the most important qualifications?

This is major college football. Our head coach needs to be an expert!

Before we get any further, I need to remove my name from consideration. The sad fact is that I do not speak with any type of Cajun accent, nor was I born in Louisiana. I do bleed purple and gold, but I am afraid that I just do not measure up.

Honesty, willing to admit mistakes made previously, and no coach talk?

You've got my vote.

How do we know O is doing nothing? That's a big assumption

Hiring any coach is going to be a risk unless it is Saban, Meyer or just a small handful of coaches who are already extremely successful where they are and aren't moving. So it is a risk you have to do your best to mitigate the risk with as much thought and vetting as possible.

Regarding Coach Oeaux you have a lot to chew on regarding if he has learned from his days at Ole Piss. What he is doing at LSU and what he did at USC pretty much says he has learned and won't make the same mistakes again. Let's take just one thing he has changed that EVERYBODY has said has made a huge difference in what the LSU team looks like right now which is how the team practices. BeBe has shortened the practices and made them more up-tempo along with more film time. BeBe has said the team is much fresher on game day and they are understanding more tendencies. He has said at Ole Piss he practiced the same way Miles coached practices and he doesn't think that is the best for the team. Which from the results so far you have to agree with what he is doing. My point he has changed what he was doing wrong and that is all you can ask, learn from your mistakes and don't repeat them.

The key in my opinion is, if you give Coach O the job "because he earned it going 3-1 or 4-0 in November" you won't have to worry about the cupboard being empty if it doesn't work out. BeBe left Ole Pisses cupboard stocked full just ask Houtson Nutt and at LSU it would be more stocked full than at Ole Piss. So if it is a mistake the next coach will have a lot of talent to work with going forward. I am not saying hiring him because he will have great recruits for his successor. I am saying if it is a mistake at least we will have a loaded team so his successor doesn't have to worry about filling the cupboards!!!!

Urban was never a coordinator. Has done fairly well.

Muschamp was a coordinator.

Mike Archer was a coordinator.

Just sayin.

What? Meyer could get a job as an OC anywhere in the country. Do you think O could get a job as a DC?
