Holy shite. I thought it may have just been Bert a few years ago but Alvarez is clearly the issue after this.

Knowing someone directly involved, Gary did not leave because of Barry.

ETA: was just told this about two minutes ago.

Well, at minimum it explains why his team played with zero life and heart on Saturday.

What other reason could there be? Does he have connections to the Pacific Northwest?

Sucks, they might get a good coach who can turn them around before our game at Lambeau

I'm sure Alvarez is probably insufferable, but those B1G school are tight as hell when it comes to making resources available for their football programs (like paying assistants, upgrading facilities, ect.)

Well this explains why Whisky was so unprepared for the BIG10 title game. Gary was busy negotiating.

There are reasons not pertaining directly to the athletic department.

Anyway, he is from Utah.

He's from Utah and has spent most of his career on the West Coast. WC coaches typically prefer to coach out West. Remember back when everyone thought Petersen would end up at virtually every SEC school, only for him to finally leave and end up at Washington?

From reading the Wisky fan message boards before and after the LSU-Wisky game, it was apparent that many of the fanbase were not fond of him and were growing impatient with losing big games and boneheaded decisions. In fact, the board read an awful like the Rant's discussions about Les Miles.

no doubt. But it really makes no sense. Most B1G schools are as rich as SEC schools. What else ya gonna spend the money on...hockey?

I was told this morning that their tier one tv contract is going to set the new bar by a long ways. My only thought is maybe they are hiding the expenses of the BTN somehow. Otherwise it makes no sense whatsoever to be so cheap on the biggest sport

There are tards that think the coach sucks on every single CFB message board.

It is hard for a fan base to ever forgive a loss like the one he led last week. Especially a fan base at an average program spoiled by multiple Big Ten titles in recent years. It was probably a smart move by Anderson. He can still make millions at OSU and stay as long as he wants with a 6-6 record and occasional 8 win season.

What the frick. Alvarez must be a terror. I bet if it weren't for him, Wisconsin would be a top-shelf job. They get such great talent along the O-line year in and year out. Wow.

Did not see this coming. Barry Alvarez is to Wisconsin football what Darrell Royal was to Texas

Completely baffling. Oregon State got a major upgrade IMO.
