He's happy in the NFL.
He doesn't like to recruit. Widely known that was one of the aspects of the jobs he's disliked the most. LSU needs a guy that will live on the recruiting trail trying to close the best studs in the country.

Saban doesn't like to recruit either, but he does it because that's how you whoop arse in college football. Chip recruited pretty well at Oregon, plus you can hire the Larry Porters, Ed Orgerons, Jabar Jalukes, BDPs of the world to round out your recruiting when you are an offensive guru.

It turns out if you win and put guys in position to make plays and put up numbers, it is easier to recruit.

Just because he's happy in the NFL doesn't mean the NFL is happy with him stinking it up over there.

What do you think will happen with Jimbo based on what you have heard? Did we not have a deal with him last year?

like Mullen recruits "pretty well" at State. You need a frickin closer not some one who's recruiting abilities are serviceable.

LSU does not recruit itself, and any coach will lose a top recruit here or there. Recruiting athletes has not been a problem for LSU, except at QB position.

Recruiting classes of 12-13 haven't been seen before or since Chip was on the sidelines. Just saying. Also, the guy gets the right guys for his system, which is underrated in a recruiter. Projecting is probably the toughest part of the recruiting skillset and Chip is pretty damn good at it.

I'm not sure I agree.

The assistant staff we have today is more than capable of pulling the weight on the recruiting end. A HC who would give a competitive advantage between the lines would be a better scenario.

Yes, I definitely want a coach with 29 losses, and counting, over the last four seasons. ...

Saban was upset he had to visit the White House because it was costing him valuable recruiting time. I wouldn't say "he hates" recruiting.

If Orgeron didn't bother most of the fanbase, I think they could slum it with Chip Kelly.

He'll be back in college in a year or two thou, whether he likes it or not. The NFL will run him out if things don't turnaround.

Do we have a guarantee that he will keep the staff here?

Someone of his ego would likely want his own staff.

Your right it doesn't recruit itself. And having a head coach that doesn't like to recruit will hurt because he isn't gonna be very likeable to the athlete or parent.

The last few years the oline recruiting hasn't been great either. That's why they continue to get beat upfront against Bama and this week Florida

Of course not. But, I think we've seen guys be successful here recruiting across multiple head coaches. Miles was well liked and that played to his advantage. But, LSU landed great classes not because Miles was a great recruiter...but because Miles hires assistants who were great recruiters.

Miles understood the importance of recruiting and made sure his staff was reflective of it. Any coach would be wise to do the same...especially a coach who himself brings elite coordinator value and thus has more pawns to play with from a coaching staff standpoint.

You're either a major troll or a complete idiot. It has to be one of those.
