I don't see the UT pull other than money and prestige. LSU brings both to the table, too.

The ND win by Strong has been rendered meaningless by the ND collapse. There is every indication Texas will go 7-5 at best. It is hard to put into words the pressure the AD and administration will feel to hire the top candidate in the marketplace, and not to settle for their 4th option this time.

Anything can happen, but I would be shocked if LSU's best offer is anywhere close to what Texas can offer.

Herman is gone after this year. The answer is to which team it will be and what job openings are available. Not trying to take a dump on Houston, but if your the manager of Jim Bob's cable service (UH) and Direct TV (USC,ND, Texas, LSU) calls you up to be the manager. You picking Jim Bobs over Direct TV? No!with the resources, pay raise, facilities, and better players/workers you will get. Houston is a good school and thats ok,but they are not those programs and never will be.

Applewhite nay be offered the UH head coaching gig. But im not sure he doesn't take the OC job at LSU instead.

Rare that, at this level, you get to coach and make that kind of money in your hometown.

Why does this all boil down to UT?

I'm not going to say you're wrong, just that a move won't even be considered by him until after his team is eliminated from the playoff.

Waiting is his best move right now to see who the bidders are going to be.

disagree, he waits too long and the big jobs are gone by then, they have already hired people so they dont take a huge loss in recruiting. Trust me he doesnt want to stay in Houston when Houston enters the Big 12. He has to take advantage this year to make a big jump

Will Texas take applewhite back? Because I think they go wherever as a tandem.
