We have millions available and by all accounts so far this was a two horse race u till the end when we almost lucked into a third.
When you take into account one of your options is a sexton client, and your other option is a sexton disciple client you need to broaden your options. Especially when you are arguably the worst negotiating AD in a power 5 conference.
Alleva locked into O two games into the "new" season. The good ole boy blizkrieg was in full swing by then and Alleva had hearts in his eyes.

Would you have spent $50 million on Jimbo? Herman wanted Texas. Tell me which coach(es) you'd have spent millions on with onerous buyout? Is your coach going to out recruit Ed in Louisiana? Is your coach going to have better coordinators than Ed? Let's see your plan.

I went to school during the Hallman era. We won two titles just two coaches after he was fired. The good ole boys were run out once. They can be run out again eventually.

Mark Emmert was the best thing to happen to LSU. His legacy still lives. At least we understand that you need to get and pay top coordinators.
