What are peoples thoughts on Herman if OU continues to sputter and has an average season and then Herman loses to Louisville - does his name cool off a bit?

If he loses to UL and doesn't go undefeated, frick him. He's not good enough. LSU should only hire coaches that go undefeated, because LSU.

I said cool off a bit, not remove from list...

Essentially Herman seems to be the clear #1 choice at this point. But if he loses to Louisville and OU is a very average team this year, does Fisher creep back up as the #1 choice or is there any room for someone else to overtake Herman as #1 choice with that scenario

I think they like Jimbo more with his ties to LSU, his SEC experience (big games/recruiting), and ability to be a HC at a major program....just saying.

Houston making the playoffs or not is not the biggest concern...it's whether or not Houston gets invited to the Big 12. That could be a deal breaker as far as him leaving Houston. But even with that, Houston's stadium only seats 40K and the school has to bail out the athletic dept every yr to the tune of $21M. So, long term, the money would be an issue.

I hope they look at Herman first. IT really comes down to whether LSU wants to take a necessary risk or do they want to play it safe. Jimbo, if interested, is a safe hire. He has the experience, the background, and the temperament to handle this job. He would do a good job. Will we win NC's, who knows.
But looking at what Bama has done and the stranglehold they have, I think LSU needs to take a bit of risk here. Tom Herman barely has any experience as a HC but he's done amazing at everything he's touched his entire career as a coach. LSU is a huge jump from Houston, it may take a year or two to all gel, but once it does it could lead to years and years of powerful offense and still that killer defense. Do you risk it all for that, I think you have to at this point
