If the powers that be have a number in mind for which to offer the new coach, does that first offer go to Herman? Does Herman have to tell them "no" before moving on to the next option. I can only imagine that if Alleva and the TAF crew listens to the sports media, TD, and other so called experts, they would have to reach out to Herman first. It seems like the Herman hire would satisfy almost 100% of the LSU fanbase.

He better get it now. I'm sure Fisher got the 1st one last year. Now it's a different ball game. One guy is making a major upgrade move. The other is a lateral move with higher expectations.

Hate to be negative nancy, but one thing has been troubling me.

As prestigious as LSU is, certainly a Top 5 school to coach at, with the way the Miles thing ended last year and fired 1/3 of the way into the season, does that add pause to potential coaches?

Must admit, we're a rather rabid fan base when we don't get our way.

On the contrary, I think LSU and it's fans have shown a lot of patience with Miles. He should have been cut loose last year.

This.

He was here over a decade. Most of that time he was for the most part praised. People had their complaints of course. We will with any coach. It's the last few years when the fan base really started getting louder.

I would make Herman file a restraining order against me.

What are peoples thoughts on Herman if OU continues to sputter and has an average season and then Herman loses to Louisville - does his name cool off a bit?

No, he is the head coach of UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON for god sake. I think he will be afforded a few loses to Power5 top 10 teams

Many anonymous coaches were quoted saying they didnt understand why Miles was so stubborn in the games he coached. With that said I think other coaches are smart enough to know why Les was fired which is his failure to adapt. I agree with the above, there was alot of patience shown

Hell no. I wanted him last year when he beat Cincinnati only 33-30. The guy can't realistically go undefeated every year and Louisville is a ridiculous team that could play toe to toe with any team in college ball.

I'm hoping they lose to louisville, so there's no need to wait until after the playoff to get him.

i hear you and agree, was just curious how big of a factor that potential showdown with Louisville may end up being.

Oh I see them (Houston) losing, but that game has me the most hyped of any game this year.

Miles was here 12 years. There are only three other current coaches that have been at a school longer. I'd put this in the pro column, not the con.

Are you completely ignoring the 12 years he coached at LSU with top 10 pay? I think the 12 years before this season weigh more heavily than the 4 games of this season. Even after Miles is fired he's getting paid VERY well. Absolutely no reason to pause unless he doubts his own abilities.
