Does contacting a coach midseason turn them off?

Would LSU contacting Herman this early in the season disrespect the Houston administration and place unnecessary stress on Herman and make him cold to the idea of accepting the LSU hire? I'm sure he would rather answer questions about his Houston team having a historic season over future job locations in September.

Nah, all the discussion take place with the agents. Good coaches are constantly talking about options with their agents, so this is not a negative for LSU.

From the swiftness of our moves yesterday, we all know that this plan was formulated and well thought out for a while now, agents have been contacted for sure.

Even if they have no intention of leaving they still love it because it increases their value to the current team/school.

No. He knows he's a hot commodity so he can hardly blame us for not waiting until the end of the year when other programs will also be knocking on his door. So long as the process is handled with discretion, I can't imagine him getting pissed.

no one contact any coach. agents talk to schools year round at times. it's the agents job to discover the options for his client.

I would guess things are done in a way that would allow the coach to say, "my agent and I have not been contacted by LSU regarding g a job."

Pretty sure Saban said something like that once.

All communication at this point is "back channel" to put out feelers.

At what point in the Buckeye's NC season do you think Herman's agent was contacted by Houston? All HC's know the process & this is what agents are for. Do you think any AGENT would hold back in putting feelers out just to avoid any suggestion of "disrespect"?

Why would the thought of making more money turn any coach off?
