I doubt he'd want to leave honestly. He's getting paid well to win and learn from the best in the business.
Dude has wayyy to much ego and arrogance to put up with being Saban's bitch on a leash for long.
I give him one more year at Alabama tops. I do think the time there has been greatly beneficial for him, though. He needed humbling and to be someone's bitch. But he won't put up with it long.

Interesting thought...bear with me...
Everyone was shocked when Saban hired Kiffin, remember? Why is he going there? Why would Saban hire this guy? etc etc.
What if there is a gentleman's agreement, a handshake deal, between Saban and Kiffin that Saban will retire in, say 3 years, and Kiffin will take over Alabama as HC? A coach in waiting agreement, if you will.
Just a thought...would be quite interesting. It would give Kiffin time to learn and establish himself there. I wonder what Alabama fans would think of this? Not a bad thing IMO.

Wouldn't put it past 'em. Right now the Bama boards would go total nuclear.

I think that's a good theory. Even if it's just a Kiffen strategy, it's a good one.

if he's back in the mix as a HC candidate now?
Why would he be? He has utterly failed at every head coaching job he's ever had. He's been pretty successful at his coordinator jobs.
That's how the coaching world works sometimes...guy can be a great coordinator and a lousy head coach. Or a great position coach and a lousy coordinator. It happens. Lane isn't head coach material, and one season in Tuscaloosa didn't change that.

Kiffin is a terrible manager. Being a great head coach is as much about management as it is football.
