I believe he's asked Texas the amount they're willing to pay him and he has told Bama to show him they appreciate him by matching that number. If Bama doesn't, he will take his unappreciated tiny self to Austin.
if it's just about matching a dollar figure i'm sure bama will take out a 2nd mortgage on the university to keep him if that's what it takes.

He very well may have that chance, but i doubt he's that confident.
He's got the most talented roster in the country and the top class coming in...if he isn't confident he can do it here then he isn't confident he can do it there.

How can you say that UT hasnt commented when the UT president just came out and said they havent talked to him?
Meh. People say this all the time. Maybe they were working through Sexton and not Saban.
Fwiw- I say 20/80- gone/stay

unlike every other time he has left for a new job, he wouldn't be advancing his career.
Leaving Miami was not a career advancement

all of this was true in Baton Rouge as well

You mean the same UT president who is fighting to keep his job this Thursday?
I'm sure he's in the loop.

He had one of the most talented rosters in the country... and he has the second ranked class coming in.
either way.. he's not going to stay somewhere for that reason alone.

Who knows? I thought at first he would stay for sure, now with all the rumors who knows.
If he wants to stay up with Urban Meyer, and be the best since the Bear, he will take the Texas job.
If he's too old to move, or if his wife wants to stay, then he will be highly paid at Bama and still have a top 10 program each year.
Not a bad spot to be in.

No, for three very big reasons:
1) unlike every other time he has left for a new job, he wouldn't be advancing his career. There's no overwhelming reason to leave. If he had already tried the NFL prior to becoming LSU's head coach, he would've never left LSU.
Coming back to college was not "advancing his career."

They were just as active in BR. And for someone who sells cell phones you sure do know a lot about the Sabans you creepy frick.

You're laughing at facts?
Posted on 12/9/13 at 3:45 pm to NBamaAlum
Oh what the hell, I'll say Yes just for sh*ts and giggles. Reasoning:
1. Chance to build and not maintain.
2. Much easier path to NC through playoff - you've seen the Big12 lately right? OU...OU received a BCS berth and Texas beat them handily. And we suck. Trust me on that.
3. More money - not crazy 100x more, but more.
