@AdamSchefter: MAJOR changes in Detroit: Lions have fired GM Martin Mayhew and president Tom Lewand, league sources told ESPN.

Surely Caldwell is next.

Sabah back to Michigan?

They are so fricking bad. They had to do something.

NFL just doesn't give a frick any more. Produce NOW or get fired. I like it.

recent NFL hires have been so bad. I can't decide which was worse, Caldwell or Philbin in Miami. What GM in their right mind could think that Philbin could control a locker room? he look's like he'd get picked on in a law firm.

It's pretty ridiculous for Caldwell to not have been fired already. I'm sure everyone else was dopey to blame for their woes. I hate to say it, but race has to be an issue here.

Yeah I was hoping to see Teryl Austin run things as I've been a fan of his for a while. That whole organization thankfully is getting cleaned up.

I didn't realize 90 year old Martha Ford is running the show.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Jim Caldwell has been told he will remain the Lions coach.

This report probably should be followed with "for now." With the entire front office set to be remade, Caldwell is likely just a placeholder until the new organization finds their coach. Caldwell has a 14-26 record in three seasons as a head coach without Peyton Manning.

Detroit?

Why he move from North Alabama to Detroit?

I actually don't think he will leave BAMA for any pro or college ob. Like it or not BAMA it is one of the top coaching jobs in all of sports and will match any offer.

Nope. If the NFL tempts him, the Colts would be the ones to watch. Saban is not taking that risk without a ready-made elite franchise QB.

I know Stafford has struggled this year but would they really keep Caldwell and let Staff go? No wonder that franchise has sucked for so long. They have done nothing since they drafted Stafford to improve on their terrible O-line.

If Caldwell stays beyond the end of this season, the deserve all the ridicule and scorn they shall receive.

Calvin Johnson deserves to be somewhere better. They need to trade him to a contender in the offseason.

That wouldn't benefit the Lions in any way, shape or form unless they were able to steal a few first round picks out of the deal.

His contract makes that impossible

Stafford seeks to be in the Jay cutler rock bottom mode right now. I could see him being successful with the right coach. He needs a change of scenery though
