Were you under the impression that he was going to retain all of the Alabama assistants?

He really reminds me of Les Miles when I watch him speak at his presser. Might be a good coach, who knows, but not the brightest bulb in the chandelier. Fights the English language.

Alabama fans were saying he was absolutely promoting him to DC. IDK why, but they were more excited about him becoming DC than the head coaching hire.

He's bringing his DC with him.

Now, you can certainly criticize that, but he didn't "lose" anyone.

Ok, you're right sorry. The Alabama football program lost it's best recruiter on day one of DeBoer's coaching tenure. Not DeBoer, just the program he's supposed to be running.

Other Day One news, from Football Scoop:

"Sources: Jerret McElwain, Alabama alum, likely to follow Kalen DeBoer to Crimson Tide

After ascending to Michigan's director of scouting role, noted personnel expert Courtney Morgan soon snagged McElwain away from the Wolverines after DeBoer hired Morgan to run the Huskies' recruiting operations.

Morgan and McElwain were the primary cogs in Washington's personnel operations for the past two seasons." -

...Where the Washington Huskies had recruiting classes in 2022, 2023 and 2024 ranked 95, 26 and 36, respectively. Hope they can keep that sort of success up.

As much as I love seeing LSU succeed it will be just as much fun watching Alabama fail.

I hope DeBoer is a complete fricking failure at Alabama. But you don't have to be dishonest about it. When a new coach is hired and coaches leave for other jobs, the new coach isn't "losing" anyone, just like those coaches aren't "fired" if they are not retained.

LSU fans seem more invested in the Bama hire than Bama fans.

Lots of the staff probably know and like Kirby.
He can probably cherry pick the best people that wouldn't leave nick.
But now, nick is gone.
