But he has enough cupcakes on the schedule to have winning seasons and go to a bowl so that will keep State fans fairly satisfied.

He took over the worst SEC team and made them a solid team. Always won the games he should have. Just about beat LSU in 2009 with Tyson Lee as the QB.

Really? You've got people on here singing the praises of McIntyre and Fleck from turning crappy programs into a good season, but Mullen catches flack for doing the same thing?
Mullen took over a program that had a winning record once in the previous 8 years before him. A team that had 6 of those 8 years with only 3 or less wins, and 7 of the 8 with 4 or less wins.
In his 2nd year they had their best season since 1999. After his first year they have yet to have another losing season, but this year seems like it will be.
There is only so far you can go at Miss St, and the talent is so far behind every other West school, it's ridiculous.

from a pure coaching standpoint, he is about as good as it gets. But college football is all about recruiting (saben has been called the greatest college coach ever due to his recruiting abilities for example) and in that area Mullen seems to come up short. It's not easy to recruit to Mississippi St but he is getting throttled by Ole Miss in recruiting.

Mullen has had 6 winning seasons out of 7.
Miss St had just 6 winning seasons in the previous 17 years before him. The man can coach.

For some reason people don't give Mullen credit for developing dak. It's insane. He has done about as good a job as possible at miss state without full scale cheating.
