Depends on the retread because Toledo was a retread.

On a serious note, a black coach recruiting in NOLA could be a big arse win for Tulane.

Not going to get any legit talent. Frank Wilson owns NOLA.

rich rod would be considered a retread FWIW

I get that thinking but the right retread is better than a NFL assistant coach that 95% of the sports watching public has never heard of.

Tulane needs more than just a coach. Again, it's not about Curtis, it's about Tulane and I do not see that hire working there

another bad hire for Tulane. They need a coach, not a recruiter

Curtis Johnson does not have "head coach moxy".

Great recruiter, the kids will love him, but i dont think he can run a program.

Football scoop now reports that someone will have to write a book about how this search has played out.

Another big name go back on his word

The thing is the few retreads that anyone would have any confidence in will not be coming to Tulane. I dont really care if nobody has heard of the guy we hire. I just care about wins and losses, that's all.

Who says we hired him?

I'd love to know what they meant by that.

I'm not sold on the guy either. At this point I'm just trying to convince myself that he can succeed.

I went from pulling for them to get a great hire, to feeling bad for the next coach that he has to be associated with that fan base.

There's a high school coach who, coached there that would win. But those that do the hiring couldn't recognize a good coach if one bit them on the azz.

Who is the coach you're talking about?

You obviously don't want anyone but Paterno, Saban, Rodriguez or Leach. Tulane is not that job yet. I've always said Tulane was a sleeping giant if it could get its act together. Face it, at this point it is just not a very good job. Johnson would be a good get in this situation.

They should hire Frank Wilson instead of Johnson.

Couldnt be further from the truth. Frank Monica is like 65 years old and is currently a High School coach. I have no interest in him, Nicholls St. passed up on him last year, no thanks.
I'm skeptical of Johnson because I'd like a guy with coordinator/playcalling experience. Ace recruiters dont really have a good reputation as head coaches.

Why? What makes Wilson any better than Johnson?

Just give it up man.... I'm pretty sure that joke is at the point where everyone just looks at it and shakes their head because we've all heard it x amount of times.
