That was a shite show too. However tenuta wouldnt have been any better and it was much easier to cut ties with them after only one season then it would have been with tenuta. Also by promoting mallveto and then easy firing, combined with earl lane being an idiot we had a complete clean slate to hire a brand new defensive staff the next season which included a program sustaining hire Ron Cooper.

Something that should be remembered though is Shoop mentioning something about a timeline that Les had for a hire. It is plausible that IF such a future timeline exists, that Clancy told them he couldn't wait around.

It is also possible that Les didn't think he was good enough.

With all the allegedly available positions for this guy, he might land at wsu? You'd think this would reduce the melt.

Of course it won't, because retards on a message board are sure they are smarter than the head coach. But it probably should.

Somebody previously posted that one of CP's conditions for accepted a DC job was he wanted to be able to select his own assistant coaches.

I'd like to see whether he gets to do that with any job he ends up accepting.

Les must not have wanted him. Must be it.

Otherwise Les must have the stench of death on him. Candidates come out of these interviews leaving skid marks for other jobs.

How could anyone logically melt based on this information?

We heard through various insiders that recruiting capability was going to be important. It is plausible (if the insiders actually know anything) that Miles passed on him because he didn't feel like he would be a good enough fit recruiting in the SEC. Shoop would also have the same knock against him, because even when he was at Vanderbilt, his recruiting territory was further north.

Except for all those NFL jobs that he supposedly had coming to him. They must have all had death on them as well.

pure speculation, he may have been decent here, we will never know. We just know what he did for a overall bad ND team

Yeah i mean nothing says program on the rise like a 3-9 team with a disgraced coach. THATS job security.

Les went 8-5? frick that, better go work for a coach that is 12-25.

A little bit.

But seriously what are "all the NFL jobs" that he had offered to him?

Only one I heard about was the Redskins and it was somewhat iffy.

Must be something to this guy that is underwhelming if he ends up in Pullman, WA.
