Lot of talk about the two coming to LSU. Is this just speculation or can someone provide solid information?

Since there are currently no openings, I'd say speculation.

I hope this is true
The Vol fans feel that Chevis is ready to be a HC, Coach O has HC experience, this will give one great recruiter and emotional guy on the sidelines
And a steady DC guy I love this scenerio!
Joe Alleva, break out the check book! this is Big Boy Football!

There is legit interest on both sides. Nothing is set on paper but interest is there. This is coming from someone who has good sources across the country for recruiting(hint) and good sources involving LSU.

only thing about coach o is that he practiced one day for lsu then left. oh and that he started a bar fight in baton rouge in 92

going from o to lane would be a big upgrade IMO.
chavis isn't the hire i'm looking for at dc though. hopefully we go in another direction.

Why in the world do you want these guys? I dont get why people bring up coach O the dirty old coach who was run out of Oxford. Chavis is junk we could do better.

FACTS: Lane Kiffin is going to be the head coach at Tennessee. If he gets clearance to hire his father, Monte, who is the DC for the Tamba Bay Bucs of the NFL, there will be no job for Chavis at Tennessee.
SPECULATION: There are a couple of scenarios where Chavis might be retained by Tennessee, but it looks unlikely.
FACT: Chavis does not enjoy recruiting and has never seriously pursued any HC jobs. He is only 52 and probably expects to coach another 10 to 15 years. Fulmer is not a candidate for any position, to my knowledge.
SPECULATION: It is rumored that Miles conducted an interview of Chavis. If so, that is a strong indicator that Chavis may be the top candidate for the job and may get the first offer. Chavis is also rumored to be a candidate to be the next DC at UGA. ETA (And possibly Clemson)
FACT: Ed Orgeron is a Louisiana native, and currently lives and works in Louisiana. He is the DL coach for the New Orleans Saints. His greatest professional success was when he coached the DL and was the recruiting coordinator at USC under Pete Carroll(where he coached on the staff with Lane Kiffin).
SPECULATION: It is rumored that Orgeron is also a candidate to be offered a job in some capacity at Tennessee. Many speculate that Orgeron has a dislike for Les Miles and LSU. It is rumored that Miles gave Orgeron a courtesy interview last year when Orgeron was unemployed, and further it is rumored that it did not go well. However, in each case, the situation has changed.
WHY THE STORY MAY HAVE LEGS -
Orgeron's biggest strengths, recruiting and motivating are greatly minimized at the professional level. A return to college will not necessarily be viewed by him as a demotion. NOTE TO RANTARDS - He has never coordinated a defense, nor to my knowledge to he pretend to know how.
That said, if a compensation package (and maybe an assistant/associate head coach title) to bring him to LSU as DL/Recruiting Coordinator, he might do it. The least upheaval, personally, after only 1 year in New Orleans would be to go from New Orleans to Baton Rouge (he wouldn't even have to move the family right away). I don't know Orgeron and Chavis' relationship, but presumably both Miles and Orgeron have more respect for Chavis than each other, so he can be viewed as a buffer.
Also, this being Louisiana, a lot of ingredients are required to make a good gumbo, yeah?
