is that the jet went home without Miles.
If they thought they had a deal, they would have stayed. To leave Miles here with the LSU reps is not what you do in a business setting like this. You hang around to "counter punch".
I do not think the meeting went well for Michigan based upon the fact that they left. If it had been me recruiting for my company or negotiating a big contract, I stay until the deal is done and bring my guy back with me. No question. When you leave, you lose your position of strength.
I think Michigan is waiting but knows it does not have a coach.
For the first time, I think Miles stays but I hope LSU does not get crazy with the contract.

Then we should see an announcement of Hoke accepting the job before noon or so

The jet left late at night - if the deal was made then Les would have asked time to inform his team (during normal waking hours) and make a graceful exit - citing emotional involvement, thanking lsu/fans etc.. team has a bright future etc...

Unless UM is ccnfident they offered all they could. It was rumored that they would throw the bank at CLM. If they did that plus it's his Alma mater and he still doesn't go......

Keep him out of Michigan, that's the key.

Unless Miles is going up to Ann Arbor later today.

This... every minute that goes by makes it seem more and more likely that Miles is the man.

If Miles stays, you'll probably hear first from LSU. If he leaves, you'll probably hear first from Michigan.

This and don't let them play that damn fight song around him.

I feel that Miles being the classy guy he is will do it right IF he goes. Talk to the team and have a press conference and not do what others before did.

What has me concerned is the players meeting scheduled at Michigan where its expected they will announce their new coach.
Im guessing that they already know (duh)... which means 1 of 3 things:
1) either they have two offers out there and they are waiting to hear from Miles as their preferred candidate (unlikely),or 2) Miles told them no, so they offered someone else immediately and it was accepted, or 3) Miles is going to Michigan.
2 and 3 are the most likely. The fact that we havent officially heard that Miles declined the offer, plus the fact that its the neatest solution makes me think 3.

Either way I expect the Les news to come from the LSU side. Our side is not letting anything out.

Not really. Pretty confident move on um's part, talk to the guy then go back to um to make arrangments while he stays "home" to make his announcements. I would have found it less troubling if the um jet had stayed, no need to stay if the job you came here to do is done.

quote:yes, but Miles has to speak in Dallas today, so I wouldn't expect Miles to be flying to Michigan late, and then flying back to Dallas for the coaches convention...

press conference
won't happen. You would have to tune in to his introduction PC at Michigan to see him thank LSU.

If there information that needs to passed to the team they come back in early if they want to keep their Coach and to talk to him about staying. I feel the players have the better chance in helping him stay as anyone does. Miles has always been about his players first and so think they have the biggest impact on him than anyone does. JMHO!
