The flight from OU to BTR (and to and from lots of other places over the last week) was a small private jet.

Posted this in another thread:
99% of these big head coach interviews do not take place in either the interview/interviewee's town. Mainly at neutral sites.
They take place in airports or airport hotels, which have concealed conference rooms for all kinds of meetings (mainly Atlanta, Chicago, and Dallas). Tons of places to keep anonymity.
No way you could get a candidates, president, AD, reps, etc meeting on campus or anywhere near campus without anyone seeing, especially in a small college towns.
Flight tracking is fun, but it's worthless.

100% correct. I love the drama but i always pay attention to searches and once the candidate is hired they talk about when they started talking and its always somewhere VERY discrete.
People like to think Woodward just flew to Norman and walked in Lincolns office to interview him

These coaches aren't flying Spirit. It's all private jets

There was a radio interview with Skip Bertman a few years back. He spoke of the search when they knew they lost Saban. He said they met with Bobby Petino at a cheap hotel in a small town in a neighboring state. Wish I could find the interview and link it, it was very interesting. It was BR radio station of course.

Presuming they are private jets, they may not have to fly into traditional commercial airports either.
Private jets can take off from a runway as short as 3,490 feet at sea level. A Boeing 737 requires at least 4,954 feet at sea level. For perspective, Shreveport Regional Airport [just because it might be a mid way spot between Norman and BR] has two asphalt paved runways: 14/32 is 8,348 by 200 feet and 6/24 is 7,002 by 150 feet.
Using a private jet opens up the opportunity to use much smaller municipal airports or even many general aviation airports. There are likely one hundred of the latter in the State of Texas that would fit the bill. There are 24 of them merely in the Dallas Ft Worth Arlington area.

Yeah but that may be different. Petrino was probably already there for his weekly hookup from Craigslist.

private jets have private FBOs and crews that know how to keep their damn mouths shut, no public access often no public view at all, private meeting rooms.

Even on a charter/private flights you can block tracking on the internet level and even limit tracking to the FAA only and no one can track that aircraft.
That’s what happening if there are in any in-person meetings taking place.

This is not true. While FlightAware and FlightRadar24 allow owners to block the tracking, they all have ADS-B beacons that are only turned off in specific military instances, as it is how ATC can see and monitor the planes.
It is also open source.

I’m well aware of what ADS-B is. Your average football bro isn’t using ADS-B most likely.

They figured FlightAware out. All I'm saying is it is still definitely possible to track a "Blocked" flight.

Right. I was just saying most people outside of aviation don’t know how to do that.
