What?

Texas is also in an easier conference to win. I'll take the coach that wants to come here and dethrone Saban and Bama over one that wants to win the Big XII(which is almost a mid major at this point) every year.

Not Herman is one or the other, but if he has both options and chooses Texas, he didn't have the chest or the want to be the best anyway.

Herman jumping to Texas or USC at first chance is what concerns me about bringing him to LSU. There are excellent coaches out there, such as Jimbo and Fedora, that would fit in and probably stay awhile.

The only thing that worries me is that he's young and may be enamored with USC or UT "lifestyle". He has a young, hot wife who I'm sure loves the Louis vitton lifestyle and Baton Rouge doesn't have that. I know that he's set up here to win immediately, but he may not even care about that.

Why wouldn't Herman keep his current DC if he moves to a new school?

Do you think he could release his good friend if he came here? Not that Aranda wouldn't be immediately rehired somewhere else, but it might be something to think about.

I agree Austin is more appealing than BR, but less taxes??? I highly doubt it.

No state taxes, plus depending on the county - not in Austin itself - you can get breaks. That's why lots of athletes retire in that area.

Sorry.
That may be the dumbest thing posted on this board this week.

if anything he may pull Aranda to Austin
this is a major concern, and a nightmare scenario for Coach O if he is retained...how much does Herman like his current DC, Todd Orlando?

Wont matter when saban gets his $100 million from texas ??????

I dont understand why everyone thinks Texas can pull anyone they want. I mean, one would think that Charlie Strong wouldn't even be there if that were the case. Wouldn't they grab Saban, Meyer or Harbaugh if they could just grab anyone they wanted? Belicheck, maybe?

Because ppl how short memories and forget the last UT search. U had chicken and his sources saying saban. U had people thinking gruden. There were talks of gary patterson. At the end of the day, it ended up being strong.
IF texas comes open this yr the same ppl will try and convince u texas is hermans dream job....based on what? His 1 yr there as a grad assistant 16 yrs ago? Him being from ohio? Playing ball in cali? Its all nonsensical speculation at this point but it kind of makes the search even more fun.

It's all about timing...Herman's timing to move on to greener pastures seems right.

PS - I believe UT was lining up Saban three years ago, just like I think LSU had Fisher lined up last year.

We pay State taxes AND high property taxes in Louisiana. Heck, I pay more property taxes than do all of my relatives in Texas.

Really? NOLA is that bad? I pay damn near 3% where I'm at in Austin.
