If Miles talks to his alma mater and doesn't get the job, that would say they think he's a shmuck. I wouldn't interview unless I knew the job was mine. It's not like he needs the job. LSU is everything he could want except home.

I would be floored if he doesn't coach on Saturday.
The fact that he would tell the team he's gone the Thursday before is amazing enough to me. You're probably right though, he'll probably coach saturday as a lame duck.

Ok this might be a stupid question, but how can Miles say this if Michigan wasn't granted permission to talk to him until after the SECCG? Is there no credibility left?

In the world of top-level college football coaching?

Everything is done through backchannels nowadays. asking for permission is just too make all parties involved look good.

They were granted permission and asked to hold off, big difference

And telling your team 48 hrs before a championship game makes some parties look bad.

Hey, I prefaced it with "stupid question".

And that is what is so unfathomable to me. Geez. Does anyone know the words to Rocky Top? I have a feeling I might know every word to every verse by the end of Saturday.

Do you think this is overly disrespectful on Miles' part?
Posted on 11/29/07 at 10:36 pm to red4lsu
Has he really told the team that he is gone?
Posted on 11/29/07 at 10:37 pm to smyce
No and why now..he has not coached the last two games....

The timing, absolutely. Even if HE already knows he's done... gotta keep it under wraps until Monday. The players are just kids, they can't keep a secret like that.

Good, then why tell them today?
