Yea how dare LSU pursue the only available coach in the country with a ring. If Jimbo isn't an elite coach, then i don't know who is.

The fact you need someone to formulate an argument FOR a NC winning coach who's 76-17, over 7 years, with a national title and another playoff appearance shows how uninformed you really are.

The first thing I said was, "He is a good coach."

You got hyper defensive at the mere mention of some concerns.

quote:

You can keep slobbing on Harbaugh's knob if you want. I'll live in reality where winning consistently, and not being paid more than everyone else, is what makes you elite.

Harbaugh, Meyer, Stoops and Saban are the only coaches that make more money than Jimbo. If the rumors are true, that list will be just Harbaugh.

Harbaugh's resume stacks up plenty well to Jimbo's and the other two surpass it.

If "winning consistently" is what you want, then why go bananas for a guy that's about to go 10-3, at best, with a playoff contending team?

Harbaugh built god damn Stanford into a BCS team and then took the trainwreck 49ers to the Superbowl.

If you don't think Harbaugh is one of the 5 best coaches on the planet, then I'm not sure we're watching the same game right now.

Gene Chizik has a ring. He is available. Is he elite?

You then discredit him by saying he "only" wins 10 games a year and bring up Winston like he's the only reason Jimbo has done anything.

You're really asking why I want a coach who's floor appears to be 10 wins?

Are you serious?

Edwards was great at predicting BCS scenarios, but that's about it. For a guy in his first head coaching job, Jimbo is about as elite as it gets. He successfully replaced a legend and FSU had lost 6 games each season in 3 of the 4 seasons before Jimbo took over. He won 10 games his first year and has won 82% of his games, won 3 ACC titles, went undefeated and won an NC in just his 4th year, had back-to-back undefeated regular seasons while going on a 29-game winning streak (and tied the ACC record for the longest winning streak ever in that conference). He is also 12-1 against his rivals at UF and Miami (who were beating up on FSU before he took over). And he is 8-1 against the SEC including 2-0 in bowls with one being the national championship. He has his faults, but his results have been elite. And people talk about him accomplishing so much with Winston, but he somehow recruited a Bama boy away from Nick Saban and deserves a ton of credit for that.

You can't use Cam in your argument. The other guy used Winston in his argument and was told "Who recruited him". And who hired Gus?

How about this. Take Jimbo's record excluding 2013 and chizik's excluding 2010.

Once you do that, you can stop bringing up chizik like they are even remotely similar.

Isn't that why we just fired our coach?

bring up Winston like he's the only reason Jimbo has done anything.

Which teams without Winston have impressed you so much?

Again, we just fired our coach for doing this. I'm proposing what's the rationale for turning around and paying even more for it again?

Les miles won 8 games twice and 9 twice. He also won fewer than 10 in each of his last two.

Is it that difficult for you to figure out that his floor isn't 10 wins?

I think Chizik was and is a terrible HC. Great DC. Was just responding to arguments for and against Fisher.

I'll be fine with it. He's a good coach. I don't think he's worth near what we're gonna pay him, but I get the appeal.
