With the hire of Justin Wilcox as Cal’s new head coach, it was expected that his former colleague Tosh Lupoi, a former Bears D-lineman and ace recruiter, might be joining his staff. But a source told FOX Sports Sunday that the Alabama assistant is expected to remain in Tuscaloosa.

Well what lie did Saban tell him? "Hey, promise I'll make you DC later on."

you take this way too seriously man. i would bet that given how long saban has coached and how tight the coaching community is, if saban had a history of lying to his assistants, that would be well known in coaching circles.

Also, Tosh turned down "multiple P5 DC jobs". I think he's waiting on the right job (and it helps that he's currently making $550K and will likely be up to $700K+ with his new deal).

Whatever helps you sleep at night.

I remember that time when BAMA fans told me Cristobal wouldn't take the Oregon job because it was basically a lateral move.

That's what the article says, not the poster's opinion

It's not my opinion, pal. Bruce Feldman is saying it in the article linked in the OP:

quote:

He has turned down several opportunities with Power 5 schools to be a defensive coordinator in recent years, and word is that one of those was an offer from former Cal coach Sonny Dykes to return to Berkeley.

Like LSU fans claiming Canada turned down Bama?

Let's not let the fact he was given the title of Co-OC at Oregon after being switched to OT/TEs at Bama get in the way of that narrative...

It's well-known that Canada turned down the bama OC/HCIW job. Well-known.

Oregon OC isn't a lateral move. It's a promotion.

To the contrary, Saban is straight forward and makes it clear what he demands. As long as a coach follows orders and doesn't otherwise piss him off, Saban will do what he can when it's time to move on. The opposite is also true.
