Fedora, Mullen, Wittingham, and Herman are realistic options with the right amount of money, and a guarantee of plenty of money for their staff.

That is a key element that can separate LSU from their current teams. I'm not a big fan of Alleva, but he has shown that he will pay top dollar for a football staff. That, and the recruiting advantages here should be attractive.

Just firing a guy that went 110-32....will this scare some big names away? Also, what is LSU willing to pay?

The recent SEC record is why he's on the hot seat. 10+ penalties in 2 of the last 3 games and a starting QB and RB that can't run a critical 4th down play out of a time out is why he's on the hot seat. 2 years of lack of discipline and offensive breakdowns. The only thing keeping Miles going at this point is recruiting. Like Fulmer and Mack Brown, if that tails off, it will be a hard and fast fall.

They will pay well. LSU doesn't have to pay all these buyouts in lumps. Miles and the staff would get yearly payments. A couple of these good recruiters could be retained, and most of these guys would get jobs for next year, meaning their buyouts would be prorated.

Just as important as the head coach, LSU has proven it will pay top dollar for a staff. Last year, we had one of the highest paid staffs in college football. I'm not sure where that stands this season. Again, the mediocre results are another reason they are on the hot seat. But, that gives an incoming guy the ability to build a staff he feels comfortable will win.

Proven coaches who are unlikely but deserve to be mentioned:

Saban/Gruden/Kelly, Chip - gainfully employed.

Meyer - will be interesting to see what happens this offseason but I'd imagine he makes another run at a B1G title.

Bob stoops- i don't see any way this happens, but it would tickle me pink to see Stoops at an SEC school after all the shite talking.

Gary Patterson - I feel like THIS should be target #1. Forget jimbeaux, this is the guy. Checks all the boxes (proven, winner, in texas so knows the area) but has been at TCU for a long time and does not appear to have any reason to leave.

Unproven coaches who are worth considering:

Tom Herman - seems to be putting together a good recruiting class in Houston, and his offense is a little more...productive

Smart/Venables - DC lifers? Or are they just waiting for the right moment to get a good head coaching gig?

tl;dr
LOLjimbeaux
LOLsabear

Patterson plz

With the exception of Richt, every one of these are pipe dreams.

I think Dan Mullen is the obvious option here. The man is winning at Mississippi State. He would likely crawl through glass to Baton Rouge.

I don't understand the love affair with Jimbo. Famous Jameis had a lot to do with his recent success.
