This. I haven't seen anything that says an offer was extended. In fact, I recall references to Miles not thinking Pendergast was a good fit culturally and his not knowing the area re recruiting was a negative. There was also talk of LSU not making an offer and not giving a time table so Pendergast withdrew his name rather than being left hanging (sorry, no time to try to find link).

Just a week ago Coach O was quoted as saying he wasnt interested at this time. Then, days later he said he had not heard from LSU. Then days ago when Shoop and Smarts names were thrown aground, O said he WOULD BE WILLING to coach at LSU.
Then bam!! Steele is the choice. Phones start ringing, and out of nowhere, hes hired
He was hired overnight, just like Steele was after Kirby turned us down Mon night
