That sure is a turnaround from your post in the other thread.

He is probably the only coach on the collegiate level that is more popular with Arkansas high school football coaches than Malzahn. Our staff is going to have their hands full with Auburn trying to get more Arkansas kids. I don't look forward to it.

Was going to Arkansas all along. Where he sucks is getting recruits who are looking at other options to come to your school.

There's one on that link you posted, who was hired by Arkansas
If you're gonna tout what ESPN has to say about Horton, got to believe that entire article.
I don't care who Arkansas has hired. This is about Tim Horton.

Horton didn't coach DJ.
He was tight ends coach from 2008-2012 yet he didn't coach tight ends?
Makes sense.

We have Dameyune Craig, Rodney Garner, and Charlie Harbison. Plus Malzahn's offense, recruiting won't be a problem. He's coaching fricking TE's anyway. Seems like a good hire.

How so? I said he was extremely popular with high school coaches. I never said he was an ace recruiter. I think they will have their hands full because Malzahn is the closer and Tim will maintain his old relationships.
Like I said, he is an awesome individual. You guys will love him. I'm extremely sad to see him go.
I'm just responding to the guy who said he was our best recruiter. He wasn't. Plain and simple.

Of course, now that he pops up on the radar for Auburn the jilted lovers on here say he sucks.
No, even while he was on staff people were complaining about the fumbling and missed recruiting targets

No, he is a great individual, you will not have to worry about how he represents your university.
He isn't a Troopah.
However as a coach, well, we have seen an increase in fumbles and a decrease in production from our backs since DMAC left outside of Knile's year in 2010.
He stuck around all this time hoping he would be retained, he interviewed for the App state head coaching job and was passed over, interviewed for the Auburn job and waited until our staff had filled before accepting with Gus.
This isn't a jilted lover he turned us down situation, wish Tim all the best, there was not room for him on this staff and he didn't want to take a non coaching staff role that was offered too him like Allen took, he wants to continue coaching and his best opportunity was at Auburn, wish him all the best.

I was in Little Rock last week and had the conversation with several die hard Arky fans about Horton. To a man, they all agreed he would be a huge loss. He is very highly respected across the state by everyone that knows anything about football.
Look at what Cheshire said
No sour grapes here, wish Horton nothing but the best. Forgive arky fans for telling you how it is. If you want to ignore it, no fricks to give. Hortons a nice guy, but average at best at coaching and recruiting. Again congrats on picking up our left overs

I don't think this guy is an ace recruiter, hell arkansas isn't exactly a hot bed for talent just a good guy to have on staff I guess. Is JB Grimes well connected in Arkansas also? I'm guessing he's well connected around the southeast he's coached a lot.

Didn't Tyler Wilson commit to Tulsa while Horton was at Arkansas, but committed to Arkansas after Petrino was hired?
Correct, the day Petrino was hired he drove to Tyler's house and Tyler committed on the spot.
BUT HORTON GOT HIM!!!111

I'm really impressed with your knowledge on Arkansas football.

When people protest so much I sense that they are talking out of two sides of their face. It's a good hire and remains to see just how good. Arky fans are a funny lot.

JB Grimes like Gus, got his start coaching in High School in Arkansas, but a long, long time ago.

Anyone care to find the stat on how many times Arkansas RB's fumbled under Horton?
